Day pass at swimming pool
We called the Chola and Park Sheraton--no. The Park costs 1,000/day. Anyone know of another more reasonably priced place in the city?

not 'in' the city, but ideal beach along the ECR http://www.idealresort.com/ charges 150.
Most of the pools i have seen in the city are in 5* hotels and will all charge a similar price. A quick call to a friend informs me that most of the ECR hotels will charge a similar price to Ideal beach. If you do find somewhere in the city, i too woild love to know about it! Kev |

Check out the link. My dad was a member at the shenoy nagar swimming pool mentioned in the page. I havent been there in several years. Back when we did go there it was only a pool but according to the page they have a few more facilities. the best part is nevertheless the price 3000 per individual per year.. |

Hi Rocky,
As you stay in Beasant Nagar, the nearest swimming pools at afforadable cost would be the VV Swimming Pool inside the Anna University Campus or the YMCA Swimming Pool at Nandhanam. If you know some one at IIT, it would be good. You can also swim at the Andhra Mahila Sabha it would be much closer and the best option. Andhra Mahila Sabha hotel would be the closest to you . 11, Duragabai Deshmukh Road ( Just at the corner before the Adayar River bridge ) but you would need to check on the membership fee. Raghu

Woodlands is the best
Hello all:
A few years back, I looked high and low for a swimming pool in Chennai that would allow a four-year-old child to swim on a day-pass basis without height restrictions and membership requirements. In the end, good old Woodlands Hotel in Mylapore proved to be the best option. For about Rs. 75 a day, you can swim in a clean pool -- with towel rentals thrown in for the price. The staff are friendly, and the showers are reasonably clean. If you get hungry after your swim, you can pop into the restaurants for a snack or meal. My family and I have been going to this pool during our Chennai visits ever since 2007. Highly recommended. ![]() |
