cycling in Chennai

hi guys,
since I have no idea about it, what do you mean when you say "expansive club"? what are the avarage annual rate for a nice club? which is the profile of the member (are they mostly foreigners, age etc...)?

This is about 8 years ago, when I was in a Chennai college. I used to cycle to many places. From Anna Uni, I would pedal to the Besant Nagar beach, even Devi, Satyam and Woodlands theatres, to Guindy etc. We usually go out after 8 in the night...there was not much traffic and the cool breeze is rather nice.

Forget about doing it in the day...its not just the traffic...the heat will get you pretty quick.

Just found this thread now on here, but I thought I'd add to it.

I just moved here recently too, & loved cycling before,
& I didn't ship my roadbike here for the same reasons as what everyone on this thread. But, I was thrilled when a friend introduced me to these cycling events that happen off & on. Just got back from a ride to Mahab down ECR. And oh yeah, the bikes they provide are cruise bikes (no gears) -- BSA Mach's. Functional, but *heavy*. The few Bianchi's on the ride got a *lot* of envious looks

Overall, a great ride; the organization left a little to be desired though. (& a wee bit expensive; especially considering that the breakfast was really only 1/2 of what the resort offered -- not very good food; & at <1/2 the price.. )

Details of the ride
Date of event: 12/07/09
Starting point : Thiruvanmiyur bus stand road
Route : thiruvanmiyur to Chariot beach resort ( mahabalipuram )
- Cycles and helmets will be provided by the company .
- Checkpoints : pit stop , ECR dhaba , scenic beachway
- red bull/ gatorade , chocolates , Electral and water will be provided at the checkpoints . The cyclists will be accompanied by a police escort , ambulance and company officials for assistance .
- Breakfast will be provided at chariot beach resort along with the facility to use the swimming pool .
- A chartered bus will take the cyclists back to the starting point .

Fun Fitness Freedom all the way .
Details of payment = Rs800/-

ti cycles is bringing several international cycle brands to india so i guess it makes sense for them to take part in creating a market for them too.... id gladly join anyone for a ride if i ever get off my lazy ass and get the grip shifter on the tahara fixed
