| It's good! Especially when used along with the satellite option, or, even better, from Google Earth. It's good for everyone, not just ex-pats! ![]() I did notice a couple of street names wrong near my old house, so maybe it isn't a 100% accurate, but hey! A lot of people use MapMyIndia --- but I haven't checked it out. All this stuff is great for planning and overview when at home with the PC (or even planning while still abroad) but I still wouldn't leave the house without a copy of the Eicher City Map. |

| Yes, their GPS units are being advertised in the newspapers now. UPDATE... Just took a look at Abhiramapuram, Chennai in MapMyIndia and Google Maps. Google Maps, even though it has street name errors, is much better and has more detail. Of course, all these services being as close to us as our computers, each will find out what is best for their areas! Wikimapia is worth a mention too. Although it is necessary to wade through heaps of crap ("My House", "Sanjay's Place", "Great wall for pissing on" ...) it also has a lot of useful landmark information and a lot of local area names that are not on, or are outside the limits of, Google Maps. Many of my journeys begin in Google Earth, with the Wikimapia layer loaded and enabled. |
