Smile visiting Chennai

To Mirjamd,

Thank you for replying so quickly to my e-mail. I don't know exactly when we will be there but if all goes well should be early March. Surgery will be at the Apollo Hospital. Do you know anything about it?
Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. How exciting for you. Are you very familiar with Chennai or will this be a learning experience for you as well?
I will give you my e-mail address and if you would, could I have yours as well - I prefer to e-mail privately.
Best regards,
Anne

Apollo is in the heart of the city. There are lots of places to go from there. It is a good hospital, very professional and has a lot of good doctors. Its a "chain of hospitals".

A lot of us (inculding me) are in Chennai.

If you need any help what so ever before, during or after the surgery, please feel free to message me.

Chennai is our intended new home for the forseeable future (I honestly stuck a pin in the map).

We are English married couple, late 50's, looking for 'clean', cheap and cheerful basic accommodation, flat, apartment, one bedroom would be fine. Rental by the month would be preferable.

Any advice, pointers in the right direction, would really be appreciated. Also, anything that you feel would benefit a couple of ageing 'first timers'.

Thank you!

So Kevin - have you landed?

And what gives me the feeling they are short of customers in the broken leg department?

Actually, this is at the smaller Apollo 'Speciality' Hospital where I went for some tests today.

Don't worry... just some things are different in India!

Thanks so much Nick! I've been "lurking" for the past several months, gaining as much information that I can. Your posts are always a wealth of learning for me. My only fear is that I will come home after 20 days in India only having seen the inside of the hospital - after all, I am there to assist my brother, the patient! Am hardly able to go "galavanting" and leaving him to his own devices...

I am sure he would not want you to be tied to his bedside all hours of the day and night! If I were you I'd try to get a morning or an afternoon to yourself each day.

Added to which, the hospital will have set visiting hours, although if he is in a private room, I guess this will be flexible.

In practical terms, in a private hospital, he should get all the attention that he needs, but, especially in a private room, it will be a lonely life.

Message for Annerobyn

Not sure if this will get to Annerobyn, but would like to talk to your abour your experience in Apollo - I will be in Chennai in about 3 weeks time for surgery - my partner may stay with me in the hospital - but will probably not want to stay overnight as I think it would not be that comfortable - and he would definintely want to get out and about during the day etc - were you ok sleeping etc on the on the attendants couch, it sounds if the setup we have is the same as you. Would very much like to correspond with you.
Thanks
Karen

hi karen,
I have sent annerobyn an email to say you are looking for advice. Let's hope she comes back to you.
She stayed in the room with her brother and she said it was very comfortable. And she could give her brother company, because it can be really boring to be stuck to your bed...
