Bus stand for Chennai to Bang ?
Can anyone explain where the bus stand is near Central Station to get the overnite bus to Bangalore? I have my tix, but have never done this (comments anyone?), so I don't know where to ask the auto driver to drop me?

The main bus stand from where you get buses to bangalore has moved to Koyambedu which is atleast 45 minutes to 1 hour from Central station.
Although, there are few bus operators who are diagnally opposite to central station. A few bus operators are still there. It would be very comfortable for you to travel to Koyambedu by taking a local bus from central station. From there you have KSRTC buses (Buses run by Karnataka State Govt) and also SETC (Buses run by Tamilnadu State Govt) and you do have hell a lot of private operators. One needs to be in koyambedu to explore various options. PS: What do you mean by tix...? |

tix = ticks = nasty insect that attaches to your skin, and gets bigger as it sucks your blood.
or, more likely, tix = tickets ![]() |

KOYAMBEDU, its a bit out of the centre any auto driver will know it, or maybe if you have a private ticket somewhere else.
Why dont you ask the bus company, you are there and I am not. Dont know of any stand near central, do a Google

If you already have the tickets, you need to think about just the boarding point. You will have a phone number in the ticket to which you can call and find out the options.
Ticks.....Oh my god....I dont have any idea... |

I'm sure that Rocky not only knows where Koyambedu is, but can probably list a dozen restaurants in the area!

Eateries dont get you on to a bus to B'lore.
If he did not spend so much time eating perhaps he could hire a car to take him there, there is also a very good train from Central as well The fruit market etc has moved to accommodate the busses. |

Rocky is a she.
My point is that she's a long-time resident, and knows her way around, especially a wide variety of city eating places, but I guess I was somewhat obtuse. I can't be sure about flowers, but the veg market is certainly still there. |

Apologies Rocky for presuming your sex!
Surely a long time resident, like yourself Nick would be able to navigate the vagaries of the Tamil/ out of state busses. Private and public. How much more difficult is it for foreigners.......... We seem to survive and get on with it. |

Oh sure... I'd ask my wife!
![]() and, if I was going to Bangalore, I'd go by train. ![]() But Rocky has chosen the bus experience. I'm guessing, from her post, that maybe the tickets say that the bus leaves from Chennai Central, or that the the person she brought them off told her that it does. We'll have to wait until she comes back on line! |
