Last time, when the friends of mine came to Chennai, I decided to get one pre-paid SIM for them, in additional with my Vodaphone post-paid connection. They asked "address proof"
Hey - you used my address to bill me over five years, got all the bills paid - which kind of proof you need MORE???!! OK, OK, OK sir... no probs... ![]() Well, once you done, all are just fine and quite smooth - but newcomer has to pass over all the seven circles... Good luck to them BTW, I didn't mention LGP connection ![]() |

Hi Getro,
Weclome to Chennai. i took two days off and then see so many messages following your posting. Guess you have charmed IMers much before you arrived. HCL offices are all over Chennai, from the Southern most part to the northern part ( OMR near East Coast Road up to Ambattur ) not to forget the various city offices. As you would be given a drop and pick up, you dont have to worry about having a separate car as Nick said. Once you come to Chennai, read the Chennai Times ( Times of India ) supplement and the Deccan Chronicle where the Page 3 news appear and you will know where to go and party. HCL admin can give you a reference letter and proof of residence and the mobile service provider servicing HCL would give you a connection. My ex colleague is in HCL in the OMR admin office, if you are going to be posted there let me know, i shall put a word to him. Please assure your family that you are going to be fine here and nothing to worry. Chennai is supposed to be one of the safest metros so far. Cheers ! Raghu Quote:

Nice to meet you I have also been offered the chance to work for HCL in Chennai for a year, only I do not work for HCl at the moment. They recruited externally as well and I had to go to Belfast for the interview ![]() So what have they communicated to you so far? As you say, things do seem to be a bit hush hush at the moment. Anyways, looking forward to perhaps meeting you in the not too distant future! |

Hi Gertro, thanx for the reply!
Yes, I have been accepted. Niall Conway(recruitment) has been my main point of contact, but it's probably different for yourself what with you currently working for the company. Section C Building? I did a search on Google and HCL have what they call the 'C2' Building which appears to be on Greams Road in the Thousand Lights district of Chennai. Maybe this could be what they're referring to? Also, cheers for the offer of getting me some inside info! I can't think of anything specific to ask at the moment but if you do hear any titbits of news or indeed any updates regarding the accommodation feel free to drop a quick post here as I imagine that you internal guys would hear before me! |

Greams Road, Thousand Lights (isn't that a wonderful name?) is very central; I expect you can locate it on Googlemaps. Would be great --- but don't let me get your hopes up, in case you end up in Sholinganallur ...or somewhere. A lot of the IT and BPO stuff is out of down in that direction.

Hey Getro & Nick
![]() Well, I'm guessing it's the same campaign we'll be working on but I don't know for sure. I had my interview way back in January so I've been in limbo for a while. Do you know how many internal guys they're sending over this time? That's positive news about the central location as well! Plenty of eateries to choose from when lunching I'm assuming?!? |
