Serviced Apartments/Apartment Hotels--any stellar recommendations?
Folks,
Anyone have any recommendations for really nice (fancy, 5-star-type) serviced apartment complexes or apartment hotels in Bangalore? I'm looking for ones that are quite pampering; they do not have to have all of the typical 5-star amenities but should be super-clean, very nice interiors/furnishings, on-site restaurant (ideally) or close to nice restaurants, etc. Anyone stayed in one of these on business/before moving into 'regular' housing in BLR and would be able to give a recommendation or suggestion? Thanks! |

I don't know about 5-star-type service apts, but there are some nice apts. I ended up moving to the St Johns Woods in Koramangala, which is not bad. You can get these units furnished so its almost like a service apt. There is also excellent security, an onsite grocery store, clubhouse with pool, gym, etc. The only problem is you have to put down 10 months security deposit which is quite steep if you are use to US type rentals (I was).
There are also some nice villa-type single family homes out in Whitefield which I also looked at, but decided against since I am not married and do not have 2.4 kids. The other problem with this area was the distance from everything else. Koramangala seems to be in the thick of things and also a nice area. FYI - one service apt I looked at was Diamond District. Check it out. Not sure if it's the poshest but it came highly reccomended, like it was. Unfortunately it was far from 5-star. |

Yes, agreed about DD quality...comes highly recommended (perhaps by sketchy realtors?!?) but the flats are not as up-market as the rents that they're charging.
I've been checking out a number of companies that have flats booked at St. Johns Wood, Diamond District, plus other more traditional svc apartments such as Sterling Suites, Bride Suites, and HomeStead. Am also looking for any add'l recommendations for this type of quality (yes, doing some research). Quote:

In what way is Diamond District far from 5 star? Just curious, because it seems really nice and did you find your apartment by looking around online or irl? ;O |

I have to agree with Indjun; for the crazy rents (Rs. 3,000-5,000/day) that are being charged, the serviced apt. flats in DD are decidedly down-market. I feel the DD flats mostly tend to be dark and smallish, and with less functional space compared to others I've seen. The complex, however, is very nice & near to lots of entertainment.
The St Johns Wood flats are better, but further from the heart of the city unless you spend most of your time in Koramangala. In case anyone is interested, here some serviced apartments that have been recommended to me in the course of this ad-hoc research. No idea on quality; I have only ever visited Halcyon and they are pretty ok. Costs are quite high. Halcyon Suites (K'mangala) TriStar (Indiranagar) The Bride (Richmond/Langford Town) Homestead (Lavelle Rd.-city center) 16 Squares (Garuda Mall--city center) |
