Rowing in Bangalore???!!!
Hello Everyone,
I'm moving to Bangalore July 15th, I've been rowing all my life and I would really like to join a rowing club...my search on the net has been less than fruitful...also my boyfriend tells me they wouldn't have the proper equipment to row over there anyway...what do you guys think? Suggestions? --Rebecca |

What kind of rowing are you interested in? Rowing/sculling in a racing shell, or just puttering around in a regular rowboat (which is what I do)? The place jyotirmoy mentioned would probably be OK for the latter, but for rowing racing shells, try contacting the Karnataka Amateur Rowing Association (address below).
I think the Rowing Federation of India and the Karnataka Amateur Rowing Association (among others) would be amused (or maybe not) at your boyfriend's assumption that "they wouldn't have the proper equipment to row over there". Oh, really? Rowing Federation of India: http://indiarowing.com/ Karnataka Amateur Rowing Association, Contact: 167 7th D Crs 4th Blk KM-560034. Phone: 080-25521963 By the way, three Indian rowers qualified for the Beijing Olympics. P.S. Here's my rowing club: http://www.dolphinclub.org/ |

Thanks so much ! By the way, I meant sculling in racing shells :-) None of these clubs have websites though, so I guess I'll have to check it out when I get there.

naaah - dont want to be in that boat i'll sing sing for my row ![]() sculling in shells i think is in Ulsoor Lake rebecca. i doubt they have a web site - the karnataka boat assoc also has its base round there. Ulsoor Lake is a landmark in bangalore - so you really wont have a problem locating it. :brishti |

Sculling in Bangalore
Hi, saw your post and wondered how you got on in your search for rowing in Bangalore? I'm into rowing too and will be arriving in Bangalore on the 16th August, a week later meeting a friend in Kerala. It would be great to hook up with a fellow rower whilst in Bangalore and hopefully actually get out in a boat out there too.
