Need Help moving from USA to BLR
Hello Friends -
We are moving soon to Bangalore from USA. Husband has a job lined up in Hebbal (North Bangalore). Deciding on kids school after we pick location to stay.
Relocation company is suggesting WhiteField and TISB. Now we do not have any idea of commute for my husband from WhiteField to Hebbal. Please advice how is the drive. Do not want anyhting over 45 mins.
Which school is better -
Canadian
TISB
Mallya Aditi
Help greatly appreciated. First time in Bangalore.
Thanks,
Aruna

@Aruna Simpson, Other factors will probably crop up, but based on your initial requirements, Malleswaram would be a good location, for it's shopping, entertainment and commuting advantages, not to mention immersion into the ”real” Bangalore! Second choice would be Dollars Colony, Hebbal, with less shopping and leisure activity choices.
Hearing plenty of good things about Stone Hill school which is in the Hebbal area, with Canadian coming a close second. You should list your other priorities. Are you a culture vulture, frinstance...

Hi Aruna,Hebbal - Whitefield drive is quiet strenuous, i would say a 90 munites+ ( with moderate traffic ) for a 25 kms drive.
I would strongly suggest moving to Malleshwaram or other Area's

Hello Aruna,
We arrive in BLR next week -so I will probably have a better perspective on
things in a month ! But -depending on where you decide to live will help you
narrow down school choices . It also depends on the ages an personalities of
your children.
We chose to live in Palm Meadows in Whitefield based on how kid friendly
it seemed- and the fact that security was a giant factor being that my husband will be Traveling. I believe my boys (10,8 and 5) will be happy riding bikes and
taking advantage of the club -which has a bunch of pools...and will meet new
friends easily by living here. With that said-the Canadian School and Stonehill
which I loved -were all in the north and would have been 1 hr 30-45 mins each way commuting time. I couldn't do this to my new Kindergartner. But perhaps
after a year of adjustment it wouldn't seem as big of a deal. I really did love Stonehill !
But we did not find any housing in the north with security and an abundance of kids- so we went with Palm Meadows.
TISB is very close to Whitefield along with Indus.
TISB is amazing academically but could not accommodate all 3 of my children
and we did not want to split them up. It wasnt the right fit for us either.
Indus is about 45 mins from Whitefield and we are starting there in 2 wks.
They have been so kind and accommodating and we got a great feeling during
our tour .
Commuting time seems to be an issue no matter where you go - but most likely your husband will have a driver and it's not so bad being able to make calls and get some work done..... After he learns to block out the constant beeping and crazy traffic!
Best of luck with all of your decisions !

When commuting from Whitefield to hebbal and back, there are few junctions / points where you will find traffic ALWAYS.
If coming from whitefiled > KR PURAM (railway station) > Slight traffic stops at kalyan nagar junction (snap fitness) > The father of all - Nagvara junction (the massive Manyata tech park).
Please share your budget / requirement for home so members can recommend accordingly. Bangalore has fortunately a good mix of ultra-luxury to Elite townships to budgeted apartments.

Hebbal area villas
Thanks for good suggestions. We are going to move early next year. Husband office is in Manyata school still not decided.
Any idea on Chaitanya. Guess I am looking for a villa housing which is mid way between Manyata and TISB so kids and hubby both commute 30m. Dont want kids to be in bus more than 30m while hubby is ok with a bot longer drive.
Any suggestions pls? Brookfield , Chaitanya... is good commute from TISB and Manyata?
Thanks,
Aruna

Hello Aruna!
We did settle in Whitelfield and things are going well.
My husband's commute is a nightmare but I think that doesn't matter- it could be a nightmare if he were working 30 mins away!
Indus has been great- all my kids are happy there for now although the homework load is a bit of an adjustment from the US.
We love Palm Meadows- it was the best decision for the kids.
What did you decide on?
Did you settle in the North or not?
What school did you decide?
Hope all is well!

We have been given few more months for the move so applying to 2 schools. Mallya and TISB likely. I will move later with kids after finishing school.
Residence we will decide once school is finalized. I was told that is kids do IB then they cannot do medical college in India. I want to have both option opens in case we stay longer.
What school did u decide on.
Any suggestions of good school with good mix of Indian and International.
