Moving with OH
Hey.
I need a little help. Im with an Indian man who works in Goa, and have been with him for 4 years now.(im 19) I only see him 2 times a year when I go on holiday. I have just come back and we spoke about me moving out there, going to Bangalore and starting a life together. I want to, and he wants to. But I need some help on how I go about this, getting a visa to live out there without proof of job etc? How I go about Immigrating? Ive ran through google but cant really find anything I want to know. Im 99% sure I want to do it, make a new life as I dont have much here in England anymore, just my family which of course I will stay in touch with. Any ideas? Anything I might not have thought of that could be a help/hindarence to me? Thanks in advance. ![]() |

Why don't you try it out for a decent stretch on a 6 month tourist visa before you comit to anything. You might even be able to do some work as a volunteer somewhere. (Not paid work...as you are on a tourist visa). Visiting India on holiday and living there long-term are quite different! Again Bangalore and Goa are quite different!
You can't really get a long term visa for India without having a business reason to do so. Of course, if you were married to your OH, you could. After some time of being married you could even apply for a PIO card... though that's another story! I presume you met him on holiday when you were 15? Other than holidays, have you ever spent any significant time with him? If not, I really advise you do first! Has he ever been over to the UK and seen where you are from, and what you're life is like over there? That could also be an important step before you decide on anything like a life together! |

Reg Indian Visa
Hi Kate,
I just saw your message that was posted in Jan. Not sure what the update at your end since your posting. I completely agree with Dacoit that you should come on a 6 months tourist visa to test the waters and then take the next step before any serious commitment. While applying for the tourist visa dont mention about your proposal to the authorities which might be a reason to reject your visa. Regards, Raghu Quote:

Hi, Kate!
I came to India about 2 years ago on 6 months tourist visa. I actually was thinking that I might want to stay here, as I hate cold climate ( I'm from Czech Republic) and I liked climate in India .And as in your situation, nothing really holded me back in Czech Rep, i don't have parents. So I was just exploring city around me, and one day I met a gret Indian guy, we fell in love and , ( never thought it would happen and happen so fast) we finally got married. One thing - you can't work if you are on a tourist visa here. Only if you find a company that needs your skills , they might process visa for you. I can work now, as after marriage i got PIO card ( person of Indian origin) |

Aren't you little too young to be thinking about settling down with a foreign man in foreign country whom you met only few times? I hope you discuss this with your family first. They most probably are more worldly to give you some sensible advise. |
