internet bangalore - any suggestions
I've just moved to Bangalore
Airtel are completely incompetent and tell my partner every day they will turn up to install internet, then don't turn up at all. They have now resorted to putting down the phone when she rings. (It's all highly amusing, of course). Can anyone recommend any other reliable smaller broadband and phone providers with good customer service? Preferably not the government provider as it is intermittent in some areas. Thanks Martin |

I use the BSNL broadband. It's pretty good. I suggest you try Reliance also wifi. It's pretty cool and fast, and works very well. I am surprised to hear about the government broadband!! And I am not a government guy, if you see my profile.
Tata has good connectivity, but their spectrum is too small and they got their noses in the air !

May i know which area in bangalore your are in.
Wherever I would advice you to avoid WiMax Connections. (Most Reliance and Tata Indicom Fixed connections) Also my don't you just put a Mail to Airtel or drop a letter in the relationship center, They usually take such compaints seriously. |

thanks to everyone for replies. will follow up
we are in cox town Have given up on airtel - after varying and numerous excuses they settled on the fact they have no ports left available to them in our apartment complex. We would have to wait for someone to move to get one (?) We are now trying the government one. After a week deciding which department deals with our postal district (oh how we belly laughed) they are now going to do a feasability study. any more suggestions gratefully recieved. Cheers Martin |

Mr Martin,
I am very surprised to say the least. It's not funny really. There's something wrong. http://www.karnataka.bsnl.co.in/ktkdir/searchbgtd.php Try this link. It contains the telephone numbers of the BSNL people and you can choose from the one closest to you. If you have a problem in getting through, there's a contact form on this site: www.bsnl.co.in. Use the Senior Officers diretory, and mention your problem, with a copy to me. I am not connected with BSNL, but will definitely try to help you. These people are good. And let me tell you, I am in a 'small town' compared to Bangalore, and I use them. And I have not had problems, except minor hiccups ONCE in about two years. Otherwise it works fine and at good speeds too. Reliance saying NO? Really surprised. BSNL normally gives you a good connection. Broadband with good speeds. Best wishes. Murli |

That's the problem. Nobody wants to pursue matters.... I had problems initially, even had my phone and broadband cut off. But I COMPLAINED.. AND YES, it works perfectly alright now. So if you Martin don't get through, get through to me. I will see to it that your problem is sorted out. Jago (Meaning WAKE UP) ! Elsewhere in the world also, I had problems. BA did not want me to change from their airline to another - 10 tickets 3 first, 6 Buz, and 1 economy (me). They made me wait for three hours, before I started throwing tantrums in London office (near Bond Street), and yes then, they re-issued the tickets and upgraded me to Business class, which I declined. So I say JAGO again. Good wishes Martin, and of course Shareen. Patience has a limit..Murli |

Murli I just wanted to let you know my story has a happy ending. BSNL were professional, and came when they said they would, and my internet is now running well.
Isn't there something ironic that the old-school government run service has outperformed the flashy private one? Anyway, thanks for all your suggestions and help. Martin |

Thank you for informing me... I am DELIGHTED that I could help, DELIGHTED that my suggestion worked. May I recommend to you to look up the email id on the bsnl.co.in website, and post your feedback. I say this because while everybody is ready to complain at the drop of a hat of non-service, non-delivery, or lack of service, everyone (including me) never appreciate in writing the good service that we receive or have received. Am I right ? If I am, please follow it up. Just as you have brought a glow to my face with your 'thanks' etc., the person at the other end would appreciate it as well, be they Govt servants, your domestic help, or anybody else for that matter. It makes for great public relations, and makes that person/entity feel good.. and you will receive better service, because they will remember you! Am I sermonizing? I think so. Well, again, to repeat, I am happy to have been of some help. I wish you the best of luck with it, and good day! You just made my day better! ![]() |
