Another one cited is English at times...but the comparison is based on the ICSE board and not the CBSE board....the former is generally attributed to be far ahead than CBSE (and i can vouch for this personally)
oh goodness yes. I read an article weeks ago about a Chinese businessman doing business here - who is bringing his family to delhi primarily to get them into one of the Indian international schools. The quality of english language teaching here is better than in Beijing, and costs a lot less as well.

Yes - I know about the little ones, I think I told you this Aishah, we met a lovely woman with a 3yo who attended school every day - she proudly showed me his schoolbooks with rows of neat english letters and numbers and basic addition... he had HOMEWORK!!! And we witnessed him getting a (light) beating for not completing it!!!! Couldn't believe it... here I don't think 3 year olds are even expected to hold a pen properly or form large wobbly letters.

Is it time to quote Mark Twain again, saying 'I never let my schooling interfere with my education'?

Very timely - I love that quote Captain! Interesting bb that times are changing back in kiwi country.. Back to OP's question too - have been thinking about this and thinking when I was 14 I knew far more than my mother, and when my daughter was 14 she thought she knew far more than me.. I remember the last trip we ever went with her was when she was 14 and there was no 'preparation' required. She just came and listened to her walkman the entire time looking very bored. I would say, answer her questions, no need to discuss the toilets etc. She will find out and will talk about what she finds difficult at the time. As for books - yes, nice to get her some good books, but actually both myself and my daughter were well capable of finding our own through the library or bookshops at that age. Include a bookshop in her shopping trips if she likes reading, and let her choose her own.

they're couple of good schools in bangalore...

If you stay near the international airport i would suggest mallya aditi or vidyashilp

or if near the IT side, Indus or someother similar type of school.

these schools have plenty of expats and spoilt indian kids studying in them... your daughter should enjoy and they follow the igcse system
