Housing in Bangalore
Hello All,
i hope you are still remember me. Please see my previous post. this link . Now i got already explanation from my HR Department. I should be in Bangalore middle of this year. I want to ask also other expats in Bangalore regarding their experience. This thread is regarding how to choose a house. I got a monthly limit until 100.000 rps for a month. What can you expect for house in this price range? In addition to that there will be security provided 24h. Maintenance can be up to 10% of the limit per month. The brokerage fees will be handled by company. My future office is located in industrial area whitefield. My daughter will go to any 'english' international school. The most important criterias are the location should not far from my office and my daughter's school. Which one can you suggest? I believe there are US international school, Canadian, or British int schools. The area should has clear air, has many trees and not crowded. My wife wants to have a swimming pool at home. Is it possible to have at this price range? Are there any brokers that provide pictures of their offers? What criterias you used actually regarding how to choose a right house? Many thanks for you all. |

Just giving this thread a little friendly nudge so it comes to the top of the page again since you haven't gotten any responses.
I lived in Bangalore for about 3 years but been to Whitefield only once. It's very very far from the main city. I can't say about schools in that area so I don't know whether to recommend you to take residence in Whitefield or closer to the city. But the amount you cite is more than sufficient to cover adequate housing with everything you describe (perhaps in half the amount). You need someone living in Bangalore to help. Why don't you ask executives in your company's Bangalore office for advice. |

I was in Bangalore last month. I undertand thaat housing is currently difficult to obtain due to the outsourcing boom. Even hotel rooms can be difficult to find. I would recommend that you book yourself into a hotel before you get there. Unfortunately it is quite difficult to find accomodation over the internet.
Q - I got a monthly limit until 100.000 rps for a month. What can you expect for house in this price range? -- this is a generouds allowance, and IF you can find a house that meets your criteria, the amount will be usfficient. Q --My future office is located in industrial area whitefield. -- This is a quite a distance from Bangalore City Q --My future office is located in industrial area whitefield. -- This is a quite a distance from Bangalore City. Its about 16km south from Bangalore City, but in Bangalore Traffic that could more than an hour (depending on which part of the city you live in) Q -- The area should has clear air, has many trees and not crowded. -- Bangalore has trees but the air is polluted. There are some great Boarding schools in Conoor and Ooty that will have clear air and many trees. Q -- My wife wants to have a swimming pool at home. Is it possible to have at this price range -- yes tis possible, but I don;t now of anyone who has a private pool at their residence. You might have to join a club, or live in apartments. Q -- Are there any brokers that provide pictures of their offers? -- There are a number, but I donlt know of any who work via the internet. |

Hello Soulfood,
yes the company will provide short visit a week to get to know the city. but i am afraid, if i don't do research before, than i'll get confused there. Consider i have only 5 days-one week time. Q --My future office is located in industrial area whitefield. -- This is a quite a distance from Bangalore City. Its about 16km south from Bangalore City, but in Bangalore Traffic that could more than an hour (depending on which part of the city you live in) -> it is quite bad suprised. 16 km for more than a hour? i believe i have to prepare for it. Thanks for the info. Living in appartments should be treated as the last possibility. We prefer actually a house with garden and pool. Yes i saw many brokers. somehow in their pages no picture was appeared. If you could give me more advices, it is really appreciated. |

Property listings for Bangalore
Try this website: IndiaProperties. The page I linked is for searching rental accomodation. Select Residential Bunglow as a category, you'll find lots of results from Bangalore.
You can refine the results for White Field from the bottom of the results page. Theer were 8 peoperties listed for that area when I checked. Almost all of them feature a graden and a few have pool as well. These two have pictures. Well within your budget too. I think you can also place your wanted listing on the site. |

Good info soulfood. IMHO anything advertised on the web tends to be more expensive than the local prices. But its definetly a good place to start.

Sidoriva, I found another resource that lists property dealers in Banaglore. Jump to the bottom of this page. Hopefully, enough material to research and prepare for your initial visit. |

Where would you search for apts. offline?
I'm living in Koramangala now, my office is on Bhannerghatta Rd., but it's moving to Whitefield in a couple of weeks. I'm not too keen on enduring the commute from Kora to Whitefield, so I may want to move over there as well -- but as housing options go over there, there aren't many. Not looking forward to that move at all
.Where would you look offline for housing options in Whitefield? Thanks. |

Why only offline werewolf? How's a newspaper listing very different from a listing on the web. Call up people, if you think they serve your need fix up a time to meet them and meet them.
Phantom is right though, the two papers are the best resource. You could also try Just Dial phone based information services. I think the number is 3333333 [seven times 3]. They can give you a lot of leads if you're looking for property dealers based in white field. There are a few listed here [bottom of page] as well. |

Bangalore is a nice place, though it is polluted, congested and noisy. It is so, it any other place in India.
once u come here, ur colleagues will be able to help u out, with home as well as ur kids school. So, don't worry. And, Bangalore is a nice place.....if u the kind who loves to travel around or go for a long drive over the weekends, there are loads of places around bangalore....beaches, hill stations, forests and palaces, and historic ruins...close to Bangalore. So, relax for now. come here, and u can work things out. |
