Grocery shopping
I am sure this subject had been discussed many times, but I simple can’t find the threads.
So what are the best places for grocery shopping. My most interest is in meat and meat products. The shops I visited until now totally discouraged me to buy meat, they way they stored it did not seem to be very hygiene. So if anybody can advise me I would appreciate, I would not mind to go any distance for it. (within Bangalore) My other question is, is it possible to buy here sealed meat products, or I better give up the hope. |

Go to any large supermarket, they will have a freezer section with meats.
You may have to hunt around a bit for one with a large meat section, some are quite small. Maybe somebody from Bangalore can give you names- which part of Bangalore? That information will help replies.

if I say Kalyan Nagar, does it say anything to anybody ?:-)
I am pretty new here, I do not know " the parts" of Bangalore. I tried to do some shopping with locals, but I think we have different expectations, and whenever I wanted to go a large supermarket, I actually ended up in a quite small one. But locals said it is big I can buy anything here. well, that is the reason I am seeking for some advices here. So what are the so-called large supermarkets here? |

You should try SPAR on Intermediate Ring Road (between Airport road and koramangala). They have a well-stocked meat and poultry section, and a good selection of cheese as well.

There is another SPAR supermarket on Bannerghatta road. Total in Madiwala also has a good selection of meat products.

For fresh meat, most of the folks I know only buy from Bamburies--he sells pretty much everything (chicken, pork, beef, etc.) in all cuts. It is on Richmond Road (same road as Lifestyle & Globus) on the right side of the road, just after you pass Castle Street. I highly recommend him, though he can be a little pricey.
