College Student Loooking for Room to Rent
Hello. I am a college student coming to Bangalore for an internship from September 1, 2009 to January 1, 2010. I am looking for other college students to share accommodations. Because I am a student, this means I do not have much money to spend on housing. Any ideas? Preferably, I would like to live near 12th Main.
Here is a link to the map near where I would like to live. |

Looking at the Map, it looks like 12th main, Indira Nagar, Bangalore.
In general, all the roads of any colony/nagar/area of Bangalore are named as Mains and Crosses. So if you look at the map again, there is a yellow colored 100 ft Major road. All the roads perpendicular to this road are called Mains and all the roads parallel to this road are called Crosses. Then these Mains and Crosses have numbers. That is how you get a 12th Main and 10th Cross. Sorry for going off topic but thought to share this basic info about the city where you are moving to. For accommodation, there are many people offering Paying Guest facility. May range from INR 2000 to anything depending upon facilities. I am sure google will return with many results. I am not writing anything about that because the place depends a lot on your personal choice. There is a site called magicbricks which I used long time back. |

Thanks
Thank you for explaining this to me.
Yes, I would be happy to live in a "paying guest" situation, too. It looks like I will need to Google some sites and see if there is anything available near this part of town. |

May I help?
Hi AuraLeigh, my name is Mike.
On July 17th, I will be arriving in Bangalore and staying near where you are looking until near January 1, 2010. If you would like to keep in touch and share info, I would welcome that opportunity. I check IndiaMike here and there; it has been helpful. Re: Apartments, I got very lucky and found some roommates on craigslist in a nice apartment at about 10k INR / month. I found them on craigslist India http://bangalore.craigslist.co.in/. I hope I can be helpful to you at some point. Paresh: I didn't know about the main/crosses - that is good to know. |

Hi!
I am also looking for a room in Bangalore in Koralamanga. I would like to know how you managed to get a room if you get any? Did you tell the owner you just stay for a few month? Quote:
