| I'd suggest..you should SURELY bargain ..as hotels tend to charge more from a Foreigner..but also depends on which Hotel you are looking at..because i am NOt sure if the 4 star or 5 star hotels will leave a room for bargaining..or you can always call up the hotel, discuss it over the phone and ask them to confirm the negotiated rates over an email, just in case.

![]() For the very best deals, just turn up and negotiate prices on arrival, but if you do want to book in advance, you'll probably do far better by telephone than by email. Bear in mind that hotels often take several days to reply to emails, or in many cases don't even reply at all.

| looking at Pahar Ganj area for first week of september. cheapest i've been quoted is 650 with a/c, but from reading posts it seems other people are paying less than this. i do understand that i am being charged foringer fares. i've contacted many places and all have gotten back to me within 2 days. p.s. don't try to do this with cottage yes please. i just got a email back saying it was a fixed price and to go somewhere else. i kind of thought it may be a stretch with them see as they wanted 900 a night. oh well, plenty more fish in the sea eh? |

| For that price you can get it easy so do not pay up unless you get cheap price but keep looking for cheap price . |

| You can always try to shave off a few rupees via mail, Delhi in september won't exactly be overflowing with tourists. But to keep things in perspective: you're negotiating over a maximum of 4 USD/night here. Getting the discount will not mean a lot if in return they put you in the cheapest, smallest, noisiest room they have with a barely working AC (not a good idea if you arrive beginning of september). As flights tend to arrive here late at night I'd advise booking a decent hotel for the first night (beware the checkout times), pay up, then look for something else or start negotiating the next day when you can actually SEE the rooms. |
