Phone cards & internet .

Not sure if I'm in the right place but here goes nothing ~

thought about taking my laptop with me but really don't want to lug it around or worry about it , so how easy is it for me to buy an international phone card in Mumbai/Delhi/Jaipur and use it ?

I travel to Thailand frequently and this is very common and so easy to buy , but not sure about India as I've never been .

Also in Thailand there are internet places every other place , is this the same in the cities I'm visiting ?

I would be much happier not taking my laptop but I need to kow I can contact my child at any time of day or night .

I know there are other posts covering this kind of thing but none of them really answered my questions....let's hope you can .

Buying should not be an issue. You can search websites and locate their nearest outlets to your intended places of interest.
The only issue could be that of speed.

Yes, even the best of Wireless connectons may not work well in some apartments.

There are internet cafes nearly everywhere, and many appear to have Skype set up, so if you have a Skype account, you can speak with your child -- or you can just e-mail!

There are also plenty of places where you can make international phone calls.
