paying in USD with master card for purchase in India?
Is it possible to do this?
Suppose the bill is 4800Rs. Do most merchants in India accept USD equivalent of this with master card purchase? My uncle from US is in India and his master card service provider charges 2.5% currency conversion fee on top of poor conversion rate. |

No, generally not, and why should they? An Indian shop wnats Indian rupees!
The exception to to this is that a shop accustomed to dealing with foreigners may accept foreign currency, or even travellers' cheques --- but you can be sure that their exchange rate will make it worth their while! |
