How Much Would I need For 2 Months Travel?

Hi Guys,

Im slightly concerned about running out of money when I visit India this summer for 2 months. I have paid for flights so that is not an issue, but will be travelling by train and definitely shared jeep for a few journeys. I am going to Rishikesh, Manali, Leh, Srinagar and possibly Kerala. I still need to finalise my itinerary. I have around 800 pounds to take so thats 400 a month. This gives me 30500 rupees per month. Do you think i will need much more than this?
Thanks for your time.

you should be fine with this amount.
I allow myself to spend max 1000 Rs per day in India, all in and I have never spent more, always less. And I feel that I live like a king overthere
Depends on your way of travelling ofcourse.

Exclamation

30K means 1000 Rs per day.
Try to remain tight coz u never know when shit happens.
Also depends on how much fun and wat kinda fun u lyk..coz more the fun ,more the money.
I think first u shud tell how u hav planned it ,wat picture u hav in mind regarding the trip..and then I ll add something if required.

If you are not through with train bokings plan them out as longer distance trains gets booked really fast. Also, lookout for some cheaper options just in case you need one. Also keep a handy ATM/Credit Card just in case you need emergency cash

wow. u guys are quick! Thanks a lot. My itinerary is quite demanding which is why I am concerned. I fly to delhi on 22nd July. Then will get a train to Haridwar and onto rishikesh for around 3-4 days. Then to Manali by Bus. Stay there for a few days and then onto Leh. (Bus a bad option? this could be where i fork out loads on a jeep) Next i wanted to go to Srinagar and Jammu then take a 30 hour train to Varanasi. I plan to stay in Varanasi for about 3 or 4 days. I think im up to about 1st September now so i have a month to decide whether to book a return flight to Kerala (70 pounds) or do a tour of Rajasthan. Any suggestions? Kerala looks appealing as there is the harvest festival on the 2nd September. So yeah i will have 800 pounds but hope to bring that up to a thousand. (75000 for the 2 months)

If you end up including Kerala on your itinerary you will have to budget more for transportation than if you stick to the rest of your desired destinations, which are all up north.

hmmm. Kerala or Rajasthan? its certainly a toughie and im sure my budget would enable me to go South?!
They say concentrate in 1 region and come back again for the South. Maybe 2 months is therefore pushing it.
