Help a brother out ...................
Good people of IndiaMike,
I'm in need of a little help and was wondering if i could pick your brains. Last year i travelled around India by myself for four months i was on a tight budget so i used local buses,Second seating through to second A/C trains to get around,Hostels,Beach Huts and stayed with the odd local that was willing to put me up. This February i am returning to Southern India for a Three week Holiday with a good friend, she hasn't been to India before so i have the duty of showing her a very compacted slice of what India has to offer. We are not on a really tight Budget and hope to enjoy a mixture of Basic beach huts and maybe if the price is right renting a villa on a beach. I was thinking because of the short space of time and the fact that we would like a relaxing time that we would only vist the states of Goa, Karnataka and Kerala. We fly into Mumbai at 03.00 and was thinking we could catch the first connecting flight at 05.20 to goa heading first to Arambol Vagator, Anjuna, ,Palolem(hiring a bike for a few day trips to Galgibaga beach and Agonda beach then catching a train to Hampi, Varkala, and Alapuzzha to stay on a house boat before returning back to England. So i was hoping if somebody with a fresh set of eyes could tell me if this sounds like a good plan, i know that she will not get the full Indian experience with this set up but hopefully she will get the laid back experience that she wanted. I was also hoping if any of you could give me some info on a few places that i have not been to before Gokarna, Om Beach, Paradise Beach. Thakyou in advance for taking the time out to read this rather long message Sam |

Sam, that's too much for a first timer, why so many beaches, I mean a beach is a beach and is for relaxing, moving from one beach to another (within days) is not some people's idea of fun.
Hampi is difficult to include in an Itinerary (though it's also an absolute must), but less than 3 FULL days would be dissapointing, then all the way to southern Kerala....it's a hell of a distance, though the train's are relaxing. |

I'd second Steve and if I may be rash to alter your plans, I'd do
1) a week in goa 2) a few days on the backwaters of Kerala 3) swing down to a few wildlife parks, Mudumalai 4) down to Madurai, Pondicherry, Chennai and fly out

Hi guys thanks for responding to the message looking at it what we might just do is just a day trip to Vagator and Anjuna as they are so close to Arambol we can rent out a bike for a few days for that. Hampi is a def as it is to nice to miss and it's only like 6 hours away on a train so it's no biggie. We are gonna catch a flight to Kochi or Trivandrum to save time to do the houseboat (we only wanna do the house boat for 1 day/night). But prehaps you guys are right Varkala might just be 1 too many beaches that i have offered!!!!!
Thanks for your input |

This Connection would be impossible if you are not on a single Ticket till Goa. If the flight lands at three it would be impossible to tranfer to yourself with the luggae to the domestic terminal.

If you are planning to be around Kochi try Munnar for some Tree and Coffee plantations on the hills. It would be a nice change from the beaches.
