There has been quite a bit of chatter in the press recently about fake Indian Rupees in wide circulation.

For people travelling to India, always take money from authorized dealers and insist on a currency exchange receipt. This proves the source of your funds in India. Never fall in prey to a person who offers to give you a better exchange rate than exchange rate without receipt.
