They don't slice some IT dude's pay in Bangalore or Hyderabad because he is making more money in bonuses or incentives than the average Joe IT guy, do they?
And we are not talking about just drivers but the entire tourism service industry here. Drivers are just one piece of the puzzle.

But on my first day in Singapore, we were taken to the hotel by my step-daughter and her husband. When I asked him how much to pay the porter, he said, "nothing: we do not tip here." So that's the experience of a resident.
