You can use debit cards to with draw cash or credit cards to do shopping. Definitely drawing cash using credit card has never been a good idea
Make sure with you back about the fees that they will incur for out of country transactions. It varies widely for the debit & credit cards. To my knowledge only credit card which does not have any foreign transaction charges and I use in India is from capital one.
