An avid lover of The Himalayas, I have travelled the length and breadth of the country - done many treks in Kumaon and Garhwal in Uttaranchal (now Uttarakhand), Himachal - Kangra and the remote Spiti valleys, the ultimate Ladakh - a few of them solo...!
I have spent a major part of my life down South - just loved Kerala n Coorg... And seen the coastline right from Diu to Kanya Kumari to Vizag...
Why solo...? I used to keep making plans with friends all the time... And something would usually always happen at the last moment, and the whole plan would go for a toss - And then, I discovered the joys of solo-trekking...!
But, invariably, I have always, repeat always, found good company in the hills in the form of fellow trekkers - they have always happily tolerated me...!
One of my most memorable trips was in Nubra valley in Ladakh where four of us strangers - all solo travelers - a gal from Portugal, another gal from Britain, a guy from Italy and me - had the time of our lives...! I had initially planned to spend just a night in Nubra - ended up spending four fun-filled days...!
In Uttarakhand, I have done a solo trek to Pindari Glacier, been to the Valley of Flowers twice, a group trek to Dodital and Darba Top, done the ancient pilgrimage route across Panwalikantha, and also been to Yamunotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath & Hemkund Sahib...
In Himachal, I've done a few short treks around the outskirts of Shimla, a trek ahead of McLeod Ganj ahead of Triund across a few glaciers - I'm lucky to come back from there - Also been to the remote Spiti valley in Himachal with a travel mate...!
I am almost always on the look-out for options for my next Himalayan trip...
Would only be glad to pair up with any other solo travelers, as I have in the past - Rest assured, it will be an enriching experience for me too...!
