Shillong Trip.......Need suggestion

Hi All,

I am planning to visit Shillong in October. Total 8 days plan(18-25th Oct), from kolkata. Please help me to plan my trip. Need information as early as possible......

18/10/09 - Day 1: Starting from Howrah by Saraighat Exp. at 4 PM

19/10/09 - Day 2: Reach Guwahati by 10 AM. Visit Kamakhaya Temple & other places nearby. Overnight stay at Guwahati.

20/10/09 - Day 3: Reach Shillong by 1 PM. Overnight stay at Shillong.

21/10/09 - Day 4: Shillong-Barapani side trip by Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation. Overnight stay at Shillong.

22/10/09 - Day 5: Sohra (Cherrapunjee) trip by Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation. Overnight stay at Shillong.

23/10/09 - Day 6: Mawsynram trip by Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation. Overnight stay at Shillong.

24/10/09 - day 7: Back to Guwahati.

25/10/09 - Day 8: Reach Howrah.

Is this plan alright....give me more Info

Any new plans of this tour.....

1. Good budget hotel at Guwahati? Charges.
2. Place to visit at Guwahati? Within my timeframe.
3. Good budget at Shillong? Charges. (My budget 600/-to 800/-)
4. Mawsynram Trip is needed?
5. At shillong ORKID hotel (Meghalaya Tourism) is Good?

Any information about this trip……………..

1. Budget Hotel Guwahati: Hotel Mayuri (ok facilities, but safe for families)

2. Shillong - 4 days is enough, but if you plan some local shopping, may be add another day or use the afternoon on day 1.

3. I'm not sure of accommodation at ORKID, but they serve delicious steaming hot idlis and other breakfast items.
