Shillong - trip in September 2010
 

Hi,

I am planning a trip to Shillong for 4D/3N starting from 30th September 2010. We are a group of 4 (two married couples)

My rough itinerary is as follows: -

Day 1. Reach Guwahati at 8 am, travel to Shillong in a cab (3hr); dump the luggage in hotel and onwards to Mawlinong ; back to Shillong and spend the night

Day 2. Cherrapunji trip with MTDC

Day 3 . Mawsynram trip and back

Day 4 . Morning - Shillong city sites ; Afternoon leave for Guwahati by 2 pm after lunch to board the 6 pm flight to Kolkata

Request to all to please comment on the viability of the itinerary. :confused:

Also we have the following queries: -
1. Name of some of the hotels ( budget around 2k per night) in Shillong
2. How do we book a trip to Mawlinong - where to ge the cab and the probable costs
2. MTDC trip to Cherrapunji - will the tourist cab option include the guide or is it available only in deluxe coach and mini deluxe ones. Also can the trip be booked from Kolkata
3. I cannot find any MTDC organised trip to Mawsynram - what are the options and associated cost
4. In order to be at the guwahati airport by 5:30 pm at what time should we start from Shillong on 3rd October
5. What will be the tourist rush at this time , so is it better to book through internet or go and bargain there

I can answer only the first qstn as below:

1. Name of some of the hotels ( budget around 2k per night) in Shillong
Pegasus Crown (i have booked for Oct,2010/ Majestic / Ashutosh Inn (SG had gone but we r awaiting his trip report)
BTW, you are getting deals in hotel booking through cleartrip.com as per 1 night -10% upto 5 nights -50% till 31st Aug
