Hello all,

I'm planning a trip from Shillong through the West Khasi Hills and Garo Hills to Tura, hoping to do the whole trip by public transport and stopping in a few places on the way.

So the idea, so far, from whatever information I've been able to glean off the internet is to stop at Mawphanlur, Nongstoin, Rongleng, Williamnagar and of course, Tura. Now apart from Mawphanlur, as far as I have been able to find out, there aren't any places to stay in these other places. Any ideas for accommodation on the route and public transport? I can travel fairly rough and am looking primarily at budget hotels/homestays on the way.

I don't really have an itinerary in mind and would like to keep the whole route flexible. So if any of you have any suggestions, do let me know. And as far as tourist places go, the only ones on the way that I can think of are Mawphanlur and Nokrek. If you guys know of any others, will be very happy to add it to the route.

PS: I would also like to add that I don't have a time frame for this trip. I hope to do it in a relaxed manner over 2 weeks spending more time in places on the way.

Thanks karikor. I've been reading many of your helpful suggestions in other threads about Meghalaya.

I've already added Mawphanlur as a stop enroute. My problem is to find something in Nongstoin or some of the other places on the way to Tura. Do tell me if you know of other guest houses/rest stops on that route.

The only thing I can think of is Nongkhnum river island near Nongstoin.
