Please help to get accommodation details in Guwahati and Shillong

Hi,

I am visiting North-East(Guwahati and Shillong)on 7th of July with one of my friend. So, Please suggest me any cheap rated hotels/guest houses to stay in Guwahati, Shillong and Cherrapunjee. My budget is Maximum Rs.500/- per night.

Are you coming by train or flight? If by train, then after deboarding the train at Guwahati, just take the foot-over bridge adjacent to the station and go to the Paltan Bazar side. There are about 10 economy hotels just opposite to the Paltan Bazar police station. You may check in to any of them.

I will be reaching Guwahati by Flight on 7th July, Morning. Then planning to go to Kamkhya first. Or should I start for Shillong first? Because I will also visit Shillong.

Can you also help me to set my itinerary for 5 days tour in that area(from 7th July to 11th July)??

Subhasish, when is your return flight, and at what time?

Actually I have not yet booked my return flight/train. Thinking to book the return train on 11th night or 14th night. Which day will be best please suggest?

Day 1:- After reaching Guwahati airport on 5th, head straight for Kamakhya temple. It would take you around 2-3 hours to complete the Darshan. After that, head for Shillong straight away.

Day 2:- Complete Shillong site seeing by afternoon. Then leave for Sohra.

Day 3:- Sohra/Dawki/Mawlynnong.

Day 4:- A trek to living root bridges + Sohra site seeing. Leave for Shillong by late afternoon.

Day 5:- Leave from Shillong-Guwahati by morning. Visit Umiam lake on the way back. Reach Guwahati by late afternoon. Visit Umananda Island temple in the evening. Proceed to Railway station.


If you want to explore Meghalaya, then you need atleast 7 days in hand. Therefore if time permits, extend your stay till 14th. But since I was under the impression that you are time pressed, I assumed that you'll be leaving by 11th.
