@karikor- The size of the group is not finalised as yet unfortunately and there is where lies the doubts of the plan. There are about 4/5 couples each with a child interested with age group of adults all around 35 to 39 and kids with age range of 4 to 8 yrs- my son being 6.5 yrs.
Although i would just like to plan the iten as per my family plus a few for now and whoever can work around it can join in cause we are very excited about this trip and would definitely want to make the most of it. We generally like trekking,( if not super fit) and the boy can take distances/short treks etc fine too. Budget is slightly flexible where dont mind the nicer ones (3/4 grand) a few nights or so to experience the homestay/traditional aspect and try and balance it elsewhere.
Although looking at @rajarams inquiries where availability for a large group anyway looks to already be a slight issue, i will need to step on actual numbers and confirmations.

Anytips on the above queries will be helpful to fine tune this further. Also, @rajarams sorry to barge into your post since it was so similar and helpful- if its an issue , i can continue on a separate one too.

thnaks!

Property wise, Saimika is the place, since it is spread out to around 100 acres or so with waterfall and stream and other activities .

Sunshine,

Large groups will pose a challenge for accommodations. It will only lead you to day trips from Shillong which is a waste of time. Try to confirm the number of people travelling, then we can work something out of that. Only Shillong and Sohra may be able to cater to such numbers. In Sohra you may have to opt for separate accommodations as well. Do keep that in mind.

Will it help going through some tour guide - any reviews on Challohoppo/Kitemanja/Explore the explored- these seemed to be some popular ones on FB. I usually plan things by myself- but to figure logistics of a big group , will that alternate help? Will try to get proper confirmations, unfortunately everyone wants to see the rough iten to figure their own stuff- little bit of a catch 22. But i agree- will try to work on that. Any idea what should be a good ticket cost pp from Mumbai to Guwahati - so can freeze and just book and get going. Right now its approx 14,000 grand pp.

December is rush season. Else it should be about 6000-7000 one way.

Getting someone to arrange the trip may be a good idea. You can then send their itinerary so that I can add a few pointers

Thanks so much @karikor. Would love to hear from Rajarams on the booking bit scenario as dates are similar
so this is where we are right now..still finetuning and figuring the basic must dos etc.

23rd dec (mostly): Day 1 - Guwahati to Kaziranga (Depending on your flight time - Kamakhya on this day or the last)
Day 2 - Kaziranga - Elephant safari in Kaziranga, ferry over Brahmaputra to reach Majuli, Mishing village, Xatras of Majuli
Day 3 - Majuli - Cycling and riding around Majuli town, Ferry back to Kaziranga
Day 4 - Jeep safari in Kaziranga, Drive to Shillong, Umiam Lake and Shillong markets/cafes/pubs in the evening.
Day 5 - Drive to Sohra for the double decker living root bridges trek, on the way visit Elephant falls, stay at Nongriat
Day 6 - Trek to natural pools of Nongriat, and start your climb back up, stay at Cherrapunjee
Day 7 - Cherrapunjee sightseeing - Nokhalikai falls, Dainthlen falls, Seven sister falls, Arwah caves, Mawsmai caves, Laitmawsiang
Day 8 - Drive to Shnongpdeng, adventure activities in Shnongpdeng like cliff jumping, kayaking, snorkeling
Day 9 - Visit Mawlynnong and Riwai and head to Shillong. Laitlum Canyons and Smit
Day 10 - Visit Don Bosco Museum, Wards Lake in Shillong and drive to Guwahati, Kamakhya temple if it wasn't done on Day 1, evening Brahmaputra cruise (optional)
2nd Jan -- Day 11 - Airport (If flight is in the evening, Kamakhya temple maybe)

I am trying to figure how we can do Dawki / David Scott trail /Mawsynram anyway or if something can be changed or removed?. Or which one would be worth /better if we had to choose. Does it help driving to Guwahati on the last day itself (will also be flight dependent i guess)
- Is majuli worth spending an entire day compared to missing some of these?
thanks.
Ps: Gonna be out of town for 4 days so will follow up soon thanks for the help in advance! Somehow

Sunshine,

Dawki is in between Mawlynnong and Shnongpdeng.

December is a time for treks and caving. David Scot trail, Mawlyngbna for some trekking activities. Mawmluh for the real caving experience.

As for waterfalls, stick to the main popular ones.

Also after shnongpdeng, you can take the Jowai route to Shillong and in between visit Laitlum as well for the sunsets.

Make my trip tells me that Mumbai - Guwahati 23rd Dec Indigo direct flight at 7:15am is for 8565
and
Guwahati - Mumbai 2nd Jan Indigo direct flight at 17:15pm is for 8465

I guess rates are high due to holiday season.

Where do you plan to stay?
thanks so much @karikor for the names of places and tips. Still if you could the best sightseeing as doubt we can cover so much with such a large group and kids and enjoy each one, will be great.

For now this is what ive got priority wise other than most must dos: - lemme know if you think something should go uo or down or is missing completely. I do the list you sent was more things but i doubt we can cover so much so will need to prioritize :

Suggested priority of places to visit in/around Shillong
1. Umiam Lake
2. Laitlum Canyons
3. Mawphlang Sacred Groves
3. Elephant Falls
Don Bosco Museum, Cathedral, Hydari Park, Wards Lake

Suggested priority of places to visit in Cherrapunjee (Sai mika stay)
1. Nongriat plus rainbow
2. Nokhalikai falls /seven sister
3. Arwah Caves
4. Mawkdok Zip Lining
5. Mawsmai cave
6. Dainthlen Falls
7. Elephant Falls
8. Khoh Ramhah,
9. Dainthlen falls (sunset)

Suggested priority of places to visit in Dawki Area
1. Shnongpdeng- activities
2. Riwai (Since a few would not have seen the living root bridges in Nongriat)
3. Mawlynnong
4. Bangladesh Viewpoint (Hike)

Other group-Mawphalnpur -TN

Is the Brahmaputra cruise worth? whats the cost like. Guwuhati we are doing hilltop ?

Shillong on 26th (post xmas) - Rosaville and 31st night -Cafe shillong stay

-Any review on Green village kaziranga or Bon Habi.
- Also, one night IORA- is it worth to chill out etc ? (bday night too) (my preference was infinity because of the cottagy feel but they have skyrocketed dec prices)

wow @rajarams..that would be really cool..i should get your contact. We do have few common day places though not stays especially beginning and end few days. Question for the day you go to Shnongpdeng- all y'all planning to do the activities there? As i was told it shuts by 5 or so- after all those sights what time do you get intend to get there?

Also, @karikor- even if we dont do jowai route the next day we can still do the canyons right after malynnong and riwai. Are we missing something else major on that route?
