HI Karikor,

Need help on certain details for Meghalaya trip.

Intenerary is as follows:

7 Nov - Reach Guwahati at 11.45 and proceed to Shillong - What is the travel options and cost.
8 Nov - Proceed to Cherrapunji. Whats the best travel option to get there. What would be the cost of taxi just for a drop and sightseeing on the way.
Halt at Cherrapunji holiday resort.
9 Nov - Trek to Double decker root bridge
10 Nov - Back to Shillong and local sight seeing in shillong
11 Nov - Dawki - Snongpdeng - Mawluynnong and back to shillong- any thing else that can be covered? what would be the cost of taxi? Will i get a option of hiring a Bike?
12 Nov - Any suggestion for a day trip from Shillong. considering my hotel in shillong is booked bw 10 to 13, shillong will be my base.
13 Nov - check out and head to Kamakhya Temple. Evening Bramhaputra cruise.
14 Nov - Fly back to Bangalore

We are a couple in early 30s travelling, hence mode of transport or distance is not a constrain.

Can you pls provide us insight on this itenerary

You can just hire a bike for your whole trip. I must admit though that your booking strategy is a little chaotic.

On 12th, you can choose, Nongstoin, Mawlyngbna, Jowai, Amlarem etc.

Transport for Sohra sightseeing till dropping to Cherra Holiday Resort will be about 1500-2000 from Shillong.
Bike Rental in Shillong you can google for AutoRides.
Infact you can do Sohra - Mawlynnong - Dawki - Shnongpdeng on 11th, then Shnongpdeng - Amlarem - Jowai- Shillong on 12th.
Nongstoin, Mawphanlur, Mawlyngbna, Jowai, Amlarem cannot be done in a day as they are in different directions, so max you can choose is one or two.

Hi,
Is Mawmluh cave a good oprion enroute Sohra.
Plan is to start shillong early say at about 8, cover Mawmluh cave & Nokalikai falls and reach CHR by evening.
is this feasible? can i cover any thing more? Want to wind up the day early since next day i plan to trek to nongriat.

Also, secondly is it possible to do DDRB & Rainbowfalls in a single day. I shall not be staying at nongriat and will be returning to CHR? How easy is it to get a transport and guide from CHR for this trek.

Mawmluh is after Sohra town. You will need proper guides and equipments for Mawmluh. Should take about 3-4 hours to complete.

If you start early by 6-7, then Rainbow falls can also be completed. Takes 2-2.5 hrs from Double Decker to the Rainbow Falls.

March April will be pretty dry but pleasant. Do not expect the waterfalls to be in same condition as in July August.

For a normal fit person, Tyrna - Nongriat = 1.5 hrs. Say you rest 1 hr in the DDRB. Then Nongriat - Rainbow Falls - Nongriat = 3hrs. Then again Nongriat - Tyrna = 2hrs

So total will be about 6.5-7hrs.

Say you start from Shillong at 8am. You will reach Tyrna by 11am. Say 7 hours Down and back up means 6pm. And it starts getting dark by 6pm here.

So basically except for Mawkdok and Wah Kaba falls which is on the Shillong-Sohra road, it will be difficult for you to do anything else.

DDRB will be on a separate day. CHR-Tyrna-Nongriat-Rainbow falls-tyrna-CHR. THis should be doable in a day right if i start CHR by 8.30. I have done my share of treks, so i am assuming a max of 8hrs.

I wanted to know what i can cover from SHL-CHR say i start by 8.30. Nokalikai is on the list. Any thing else?

So currently itinerary looks something like this:

7 Nov - Reach Guwahati at 11.45 and proceed to Shillong. Shillong sight seeing - what can i cover considering i reach by about 3.30.
8 Nov - Proceed to Sohra - What can be covered enroute? currently i have Mawkdok, Nokakilai, Mawsmai Cave, Ramakrishna Mission in mind. Is it too cramped or doable. Any thing else apart from this.
Halt at Cherrapunji holiday resort.
9 Nov - Trek to Double decker root bridge
10 Nov - Sohra - Mawluynnong - Dawki - Snongpdeng
11 Nov - Snongpdeng - Jowai - Krangshuri falls - shillong - Anything else that can be covered enroute.
12 Nov - Mawlyngbna Mawsynram and back to shillong - will i be left with any time to explore shillong in the evening? cafe hopping? may be shopping in bara bazaar.
13 Nov - check out and head to Kamakhya Temple. Evening Bramhaputra cruise.
14 Nov - Fly back to Bangalore

feel free to provide our views.
