Hi All,
With the help of Karikor previously (last year) I came up with the below itinerary. This year during Puja, I'm planning for it. Need some help finalizing and clarifying few things.

24th Sep : Reach Guwahati. Visit Kamakhya Temple. Go For Brahmaputra River Cruise. Halt at Guwahati

25th : Proceed to Mawphlang. Halt at Mawphlang

26th : Mawlongbna trip. Halt at Mawlongbna/Mawphlang

27th : Mawphanlur trip. Halt at Mawphanlur

28th : Sacred Forest. David Scot trek. Proceed to Sohra. Halt at Sohra

29th : Sohra Sightseeing. Halt

30th : Nongriat Trek. Halt at Nongriat / Sohra

1st Oct : Mawlynnong sightseeing. Proceed to Shnongpdeng. Halt

2nd : Shnongpdeng activities. Halt

3rd : Proceed to Jowai via Amlarem. Halt

4th : Jowai sightseeing. Proceed to Laitlum. Halt at Mawlyngngot.

5th : Proceed to Shillong. Shillong sightseeing. Halt

I have time till 8th October when I plan to fly back from Imphal to Kolkata. So atleast planning to keep 3 nights at Manipur so that I can enjoy Imphal, Andro Village, Loktak Lake etc.

So my questions are...

1. On 28th, can Sacred Forest and David Scott Trek be done in a single day and proceeded to Sohra?

2. Mawsynram comes on the way to Mawlynbna right?

3. Do I need whole day at Shnongpdeng for activities? If I can cut out a day here I can add it to Imphal.

4. What's the economical way to reach Imphal from Shillong?

yes just keep 1-1.5 hrs for sacred groves. Then start the David Scot trek and so on.

2. Mawsynram comes on the way to Mawlynbna right?

15km before reaching Mawlyngbna

3. Do I need whole day at Shnongpdeng for activities? If I can cut out a day here I can add it to Imphal.

if there is no rainfall the past couple of days then worth it, else you can skip and add 1 day to the Imphal leg

4. What's the economical way to reach Imphal from Shillong?

Most economical should be bus

I'm pretty sure once you land here, your cab fellow will be able to help you with such details. But I would suspect that you can get the bus either from Polo grounds or Dhankheti

Okay!! I'll try to enquire after I reach there, but everything will be scheduled, I was just looking for some pre-information.

Anyway, any idea how much time it takes?

I also need another help from you, I'm having a hard time hiring car with the above route of yours in Meghalaya. Most Guwahati based drivers do not know the details or never heard of such places!!

I'm really looking for a contact of local driver who knows these places and is from Meghalaya as well (as I feel, a local would know better than Guwahati based drivers) and can really make my trip a great one. If you have contacts of such good drivers, can you please pass it on to me?

I think once you have given me number of someone named Arky, whom you said is a good friend of yours. I haven't called him yet though.

Hi Karikor, For Shnongpdeng activities can I book the activities after reaching there? Or I need to take the service of tour operators like Pioneer Adventure?

Hi Karikor, I have few queries...

1. For Shnongpdeng activities can I book the activities after reaching there? Or I need to take the service of tour operators like Pioneer Adventure?

2. For Sohra, I'm considering Coniferous Resort. Or do you have something in mind? I can't remember the name you suggested to someone else which offers great view of Bangladesh Plains.

3. For Shnongpdeng, you once shared me a number person having homestay nearby. I'm considering the same only.

4. I do not find anything at Amlarem. But I see Orchid Inn at Jowai. Can you please suggest? Jowai seems to be after Amralem if approaching from Sohra in Maps.

5. For Mawlyngngot, I'm considering Traveller's Nest only. Or should I consider halting at Ialong? Any insight on the different place would be really helpful.

6. Shillong seems to have lots of hotels. Can you please suggest some budget and clean hotel (if possible within 1500/- per room) near Police Bazaar?

What sort of vehicle do you need?

Hi Karikor, For Shnongpdeng activities can I book the activities after reaching there? Or I need to take the service of tour operators like Pioneer Adventure?

There are now local groups that also offer activities except maybe scuba diving which Pioneer Adventure offers, but always better to book a few days in advance.

For Sohra, I'm considering Coniferous Resort. Or do you have something in mind? I can't remember the name you suggested to someone else which offers great view of Bangladesh Plains.

You can check out Kutmadan Resorts

For Shnongpdeng, you once shared me a number person having homestay nearby. I'm considering the same only

Now there is a local group that offers activities as well

I do not find anything at Amlarem. But I see Orchid Inn at Jowai. Can you please suggest? Jowai seems to be after Amralem if approaching from Sohra in Maps

Yes you are right, Jowai is after Amlarem if you are coming from Shnongpdeng. Don't forget Krangsuri and Thlumuwi falls near Amlarem. Near Jowai you can try Ialong Park, Orchid Inn or Highwinds for accommodation

For Mawlyngngot, I'm considering Traveller's Nest only. Or should I consider halting at Ialong? Any insight on the different place would be really helpful.

Ialong is near Jowai. For Mawlyngngot you can opt for Travellers Nest. Near Mawlyngngot you can check out Laitlum, Lum Rapleng, Lwai falls at Thangsning and Wahrashi falls at Syntung.

Shillong seems to have lots of hotels. Can you please suggest some budget and clean hotel (if possible within 1500/- per room) near Police Bazaar?

I would not recommend Police Bazaar, you can think of places in Lachumiere, Dhankheti/Cleve Colony or Laitumkhrah.

We are 6 pax. So Sumo / Bolero / Maxx / Innova / Xylo would be fine. We are looking for a single vehicle for the entire tour.

Thanks. Any ways to contact them? If you have the contact details.

Ahh...I'm talking about the accomodation. We are staying there for 2 nights as per your suggested itinerary. Any contact details would be really helpful.

Okay!! So I can try Ialong Traveller's Nest. Or you can suggest something else if you feel the same would be better.

Okay. I'll try looking for hotels in this area. BTW do I need advance booking for September considering the Durga Puja holiday? Or can I fix it on spot?

Hi Karikor, Any contact details for vehicle and Shnongpdeng local groups whom I can approach for activities?

Also I do not find any way to contact Traveller's Nest in Mawlyngot. The number given here (http://villagegetaways.in/Mawlyngngo...ller-Nest.html) says it's not active. Do you think I can book it after reaching there? Is it possible? Or should I just proceed to Shillong otherwise?
