Hi,

I have been planning to visit meghalaya on September end for 5 days and was talking a Tour operator.

He quoted me Rs. 48,850/- for two for the below places.

Can you please verify if the rate quoted is a valid one?

Also, can you please let me know any good operators that I can use (if you have personal experience)

Day 1 - Guwahati to Shillong
Stop by at Umium Lake on the way up.
Walk the local markets of Police Bazar and sample local delicacies.
Authentic Khasi Khasi dinner in Police Bazar itself.
Check-in to your beautiful Khasi Homestay/a quite and serene old house tucked on the side of a hill overlooking part of the Shillong city below.

Day 2 - Shillong

Shillong Peak.
Don Bosco Center for Indigenous Cultures. (Will need quite some time, decide based on when you reach)
Don Bosco Cathedral.
Lady Hydari Park and Ward’s Lake.
Golf Course.
Don Bosco Khasi Heritage Museum

Day 3 - Shillong to Cherrapunjee

Elephant falls.
Mawkdok View-point (You can try zip-lining here).
Nohsngithiang Falls (Seven sisters falls).
Dainthlen Falls.
Nonkalikhai Falls.
Mawsmai Caves/Arwah Caves.
Check in to a simple guest house in lower Cherrapunjee/one of the best resorts in Cherrapunjee.

Day 4 - Cherrapunjee to Mawlynnong via Dawki

• Eco Park.
• Enjoy the beautiful drive to Mawlynnong, the cleanest village of ASIA
• Visit Living root bridge of Riwai village en-route

So for 4 nights you are paying 11k per day/night per person for 2 people. Assuming the drop to Guwahati airport on the 5th day costs you 4k. Seems pretty high to me unless you have been promised star accommodation.

You can do the math yourself, if you may. 3-4k for dedicated car and all entry fees per day. 2k per day for pretty good accommodation (not star of course). The rest 6k per day goes straight to the agent's pocket. Well unless your flight/trains are also included. I hope I did not miss any other cost.

IMO, plan it yourself. You can do the trip in 2/3 the price.

I have the places n stay sorted out. but one thing I'm missing is the car. I do not have any drivers number that can act as a guide as well.

Believe me you will get plenty from Guwahati airport and you can bargain also as well. Worst case the hotel will arrange someone for you. If you have the hotels sorted, call them up and do temp bookings. Talk with any one of the hotel managers and ask them about the guide/car. Why pay so much extra when your plan is sorted.

Also is the above itinerary fine? Should we add or delete something? We dont want to visit the most common places and would like to see unique things.

Any suggestion is welcomed

You just need a proper plan. I don't think it will be so difficult to book hotels. Everyone here speaks English.

And for just 5 days it should be easy since you will be visiting just the regular places.

You can even opt for a self driven car/bike
