Hello
*I will be reaching guwahati in a couple of days. I wanted to know how the weather and flood situation is. Is it reasonable to hire a bike for Meghalaya for a week. I'll be going to Shillong, nongpoh, dawki, mawsynram mostly.*Also, is it safe to visit tura? I'll be traveling with a female friend and have heard it's a bit unsafe.

Any suggestions on homestays and cheap hostels are always welcome.

No issues what so ever in Meghalaya. Hiring a bike is the best way to travel here. You can also visit Mawphlang, Mawlyngbna, Nongriat, Laitlum, Amlarem, Jowai, etc

Absolutely safe in the Khasi - Jaintia hills, as I have helped many solo female travellers plan their 7-10 days trips.

Better get your itinerary fixed first. You may be lucky this time round, since due to Assam floods many tourist have cancelled their trips as they are reaching Guwahati by train. So you may find accommodation. Else you will have to book atleast a couple of months before hand.

And for accommodation, all depends on budget as well, especially for Shillong.
