Hi ,

Planning a solo trip to Meghayala in June 17. I have never been to North east but have a brief idea about places to visit .

I have a total of 7 days for this trip . Please help me to plan the route.

As of now the plan looks like this

Reaching Guwahati from Bangalore on 19th June(Monday) night. Stay.

20th - visit Kamakhya and Umananda temple . Stay at Guwahati .

21st - leave for shillong .

The return flight to Bangalore from Guwahati is on 26th (Monday) noon.

A friend of mine have suggested Cherapunjee and Mawsynram . Also need to go to Dawki river .

Now please help me to plan the remaining days.

Nothing specific ...I prefer to travel to remote villages and explore the local culture than visiting the typical tourist spots.

Thanks for all the feedback guys .

It was the most amazing trip i ever had .

A brief on the tour.

Reached Guwahati on 23rd june (friday)

Day 1 - Incidentally it was Ambubachi mela in Kamkya and i spend time till evening in the temple . It was great experience to be there in that ambiance flooded with pilgrims from all over .

Day 2 - took a cab to Mawphlang . visited sacred forest and left for sohra.

Day 3 - I fell sick with cold and fever but did a small tour . Sight seeing - Masmai caves , eco park , 7 sisters waterfalls and Nokhalikai falls .

Day 4 - Noghriat trek to livingroot bridge . stayed at living root

Day 5 - spend time at a water fall and trekked back to sohra (stayed overnight)

Day 6 - did a brief tour in sohra and went to shnonpdeng . On the way visited cleanest village and Dawki . Camped at Shnonpedeng.

Day 7 - adventure stuff and in the afternoon visited Khrenshuri waterfalls en route to shillong . overnight stay at shillong.

Day 8- went to laitlum and directly to guwahati and from there to airport as i had a flight to kolkata .

Day 9 and 10 - Kolkata

Finally returned to banglore .

Hi Ballu,
Glad to know you had a wonderful trip.
How was Umngot river at Dawki in this monsoon? Could you see the famous crystal clear water or the rains have spoilt it?
Can you please suggest some good hotels at Shillong and Cherrapunji? I am planning a trip in August.
Also how long does it take to reach Guwahati airport from Cherrapunji?
Thanks in advance.
