Visa conversion

Can I go to Thailand and apply for an entry visa quickly?

My husband is Indian. We attempted to convert my visa in New Delhi, then we attempted to extend it in Hyderabad. We've been having a real headache. Hyderabad sent us to Delhi who told us to go to Hyderabad and then Hyderabad said 'no we didn't tell you to go to Delhi. Now you have to wait.'

Normally the situation would be easy. Go home, wait, file for an entry visa. The problem is neither of us anticipated being in India so long and I'm now 5ms pregnant.

I just don't know if they would allow me to go to Thailand and file and have the process over in say a week or what I'm supposed to do.

Well your case looks really complicated
Otherwise for a tourist visa for Thailand we straight away get it and we dont have to wait for it

Has both Delhi MHA & Hyderabad FRRO told you that you can not convert your T-visa to X-visa in India?

Or else, why do you need to go to Thailand?

I think that is what caused the confusion. A Tourist Visa can not be extended except in emergency circumstances. You should have only tried to convert to X visa.

I guess, she was already married and went to India on T-visa.

May be, as she did not get married in current T-visa, MHA did not allow to convert !!!

Is it possible to convert T-visa to X-visa even after 1-2 year of marriage and on another T-visa.

Something does not compute. (Divide by zero segment fault)

Hyderabad is an FRRO. They have the authority to convert T to X(Entry) Visa in case of marriage. Rule #1, Ask every paan chewing nomenklatura - "Sir/Madam, what is your Good Name" and make it a point to write it down in front of him/her in your poco notebook.

I think @Akhilesh above has a point.

Conversion of T to X for someone who has already been married has been reported to be difficult or plain refused while easily converted for those who got married here and immediately applied for conversion. Don't see the reason why though?

Yes, and you always could convert T-visa to X- visa on the basis of marriage.

How long have you been married? If more than a year, apply for a PIO and you won't need a visa. If less than a year, apply for a X visa in Australia itself. It is issued for longer than a T visa.

This is not a good idea.

Once you are married, you are entitles to apply for an X visa, and I would advise you to do so in Australia before returning to India.

The facility to convert from T to X is for people who have entered India on T visa and then married, because T visa, before marriage, is the only option available to them. You might not be granted the conversion having re-entered India on a T visa.

On top of all that, getting the X visa in your country of origin is usually quicker, easier and less bureaucracy-heavy than conversion within India.

marriage certificate without Apostille - X/T visa?

Can I add a question to the previous question? I hope someone can help me...Me and my husband got married last Februari 2012. We are now both in Holland, the country where I am from. He is from Rajasthan - India. We got married according to the Hindu rituals and have a certificate, but it was very difficult and time consuming to make this legal. Therefore, we got married again for court in Goa. We have a certificate, but arriving in Holland where we wanted to register the marriage, we found out that the certificate does not have the Appostille stamp. Without this, we can not register our marriage in Holland. Also, the Indian Embassy in the Netherlands does not want to give me an X visa, because we dont have the stamp. My only option is to apply for a tourist visa. Is it possible to change this into an Xvisa when arriving in India? I really dont know how long I will be in India for, don't really want to be an illegal someone....
