Question Foreigner Marrying an Indian Air Force Pilot

HI!

I know for a fact that Indian Military cannot marry someone of different Nationality. But is there a way to this?

Is it possible for the foreigner to give-up her Nationality and apply for Indian Nationality to marry someone from IAF?

What are the procedures?

Any thoughts on this?

THANKS

Marriage

I dont think there is any possiblity of him/her changing the nationality. However if the person in the from military wants he or she can ask for retiring from military on the grounds that he is to marry a person of non indian origin. After retiring he/she can marry.

Thanks for your response, but the IAF personnel is on a permanent commission, and would be difficult to leave the service. The foreigner girl is very much willing to give-up her nationality so they can marry without his bf leaving the Indian military.
Is this possible?

hi

Being a retired Army guy, my advice. The services are very finicky about an officer marrying a foreigner. He will have to take official permission, which is unlikely to be given. Especially being an IAF pilot, the permission is near impossible. Only option is to resign, again this will have repurcussions as the IAF will not be willing to release a pilot on whom they have spent crores of rupees training. Getting Indian citizenship will take years. Best of Luck

if both of you have so much love for each other , you can wait till the time he fineshes 20 years. assuming that he has finishes 5-6 years , it would be 13 years more. after 20 years it is relatively easy . also there are cases where pilots have left service before 10 years also on compassioante grounds. if all depends how much your 'iaf pilot' is keen to do for you.

Thanks for the reply. yes, you are right, it will probably depend on the IAF pilot. But the family of the guy is with the service as well. Father, brother and sister, all are from the IAF. It is really difficult for the guy to just resign just like that. The girlfriend either does not want her to leave the service. So its either she will become an Indian national or not marry at all. She would prefer her bf to stay in the service instead of resigning to be with her.

This reminds me of the Veer Zaaraa movie

YES In Veer Zaaraa, they waited for 22 years. But I don't think that will ever happen in real life. I guess if you are meant to be, it will happen. If not, then accept things as they are

I would suggest A live in

My suggestion is a live in, Instead of a immediate marriage that way you'll understand your relationship better and both of your compatibility and commitment towards each other. Either way its a big leap of faith for both of you, So I'd suggest a "test drive" together .

Hi! I don't think that's possible, coz the IAF pilot live on a base, which foreigners are not allowed to go to. In fact, I heard that they are not allowed to date or see someone of different nationality.
