Hi,

I have seen the threshold is £18600 for the financial requirements for applying for a spouse or fiancée visa for the UK. I earn just under this ammount with bonuses and overtime annually I'm on £17600 and with benefits like bonus and extra £500 annually(approx). When I get married I guess the Home Office will reject the application every other requirement is met. What can I do???
What do I need??

Also what do I need to do to get married in India. We are both Sikh and are engaged. It's so confusing... Can I get married in a court first (to help get the ball rolling on immigration)? Because ideally I want to go do that then go back later in the year with my family for the temple wedding. I hear I need to do the temple thing first in order to get married legally in a court!

I hope you can help because I'm getting stressed about all of it!!!!

You can get married under SMA (Special Marriage Act) irrespective of whether believe in Sikhism, Paganism, or Higgs-Boson ! You can do Anand Karaj later if you so choose.

Lucky O Lucky ! Your bride to be has to file with the registrar 30 days in advance, in the pind/town/city she is current resident of. Typically it is Thesil/DM/City Hall.

Thanks ukdoctor, I think I will have to get a part time job at the weekend, the rule is unfair... I can't ask for a raise as I just have had one. Is it also true even if I'm just under the 18600 I need to have 16000 in the bank?? If so that is so Crazy?

Hi I have since found out that you may combine you income with your savings. I read through the conditions of the UK Border Force website..

It's still a nightmare trying to get the Special Marriage Act marriage notice form from the Chandigarh authorities!
