And you have changed your religion to marry him! What if he disappears one fine day? Or says that his family cannot accept the marriage and he cannot abandon them? Inheritence, you know. Or has to leave Phillipines because he has to take up a job somewhere else? That is a dicey situation which keeps occuring all over the world with Indian men. I do not know how serious is the person about the marriage. So, enjoy till it lasts.

Hey Jansy,There is no need for that certificate from NSO...you are of legal age to marry anyway plus you got your passport which shows you are single. When are you planning to get married, by the way? Are you in India now?
By the way, I am a Filipina.
Hi Jancy
I am an Indian living in India and planning to visit Phillipines this July for getting married to a Fillipina.
I have the same query as yours Jancy,
Hi All,
What are the documents i must have to get married in Phillipines?
What would be the minimum stay in Phillipines to register our marriage as per Foreign Marriage Act 1969?
Will it be better choice to marry under Foreign Marriage Act 1969 or simply getting married in Church and later on bring my wife to India on tourist visa and registering marriage in India under Special marriage Act?
Nick ,Please guide us!!
Regards,
Pisceian

Sorry... I know nothing of the Philippines!
If you marry in the Philippines, it will be under Philippine law --- and you can forget all about the Indian marriage acts; they will not apply. In fact, they apply only to marriages in India. I see no reason that your Philippine marriage will not then be valid in India, or, indeed, any other country. There is no need to register that marriage in India. There is no need to marry again in India.
Now... as to what is required for you to marry in Philippines --- that should be your fiance's job to find out: it's her country!

hello everyone! i'm a newbie here. i have seen that indiamike forums have helped so many people with their concerns. would you, guys, mind helping me too?
i am from the philippines. my indian bf and i are planning to get married in october. and we are currently working on the paper works/ requirements in getting married. it would just be a court wedding for us.
the following are what i have gathered from reading from forums here. anyone can correct, suggest, comment, or post personal opinions.
1. i will be traveling to india in late august under tourist visa. my port of entry is cochin, kerala and i will be living with my fiance's family. do i need to register myself to a local police/authorities regarding my stay with them? does kerala or india as a whole allow engaged couple to live under the same roof? would my stay with them post any issue in the future?
2. as i have said, we're just going to have a court wedding. i understand that we should send out notice to the marriage officer in the district of my fiance. is this same as applying for marriage license? aside from passport and id's showing my personal data, what other documents should i carry with me (birth certificate, certificate of no marriage)?
3. after the marriage ceremony/marriage registration, how long do we need to wait to secure copies of the marriage certificate? or can we have it at once?
4. i understand that we also need to report our marriage to the phil. embassy in delhi. one of the requirements is the husband's birth certificate. does phil. embassy in delhi honor the Non Availability Birth Certificate (NABC) together with some documents like school leaving certificate of my fiance in facilitating the report of marriage?
i do hope to hear from you guys. i really need help. thanks and have a great day everyone!
