General Church Wedding RequirementsNOTE: Other Churches/Parishes may require some other documents and/or seminars not specified below. To be sure, inquire at the parish office of the church you wish to be married in.
1. Baptismal and Confirmation Certificates: These relates to both the bride's and the groom's. These must be new copies and must have an annotation: "FOR MARRIAGE PURPOSES ONLY" and must have been secured not more than three (3) months before the date of marriage.
FOR MIXED MARRIAGE (different religions or Disparitas Cultas): a dispensation must be secured from the Archdiocesan Chancery Office at the Arzobispado de Manila, 121 Arzobispo St., Intramuros, Manila (near Manila Cathedral). The forms will be provided at the Parish Office which will be released after the canonical interview with the Parish Priest or his assistant. These have to be submitted one week before the wedding.
2. Marriage License: This can be secured from the city or municipality hall where either the bride or the groom currently resides.
For those who are civilly married, a certified true photocopy of the Marriage Contract with the registry number of the city or town where the marriage was performed must be submitted one week before the wedding date.
3. Canonical Interview: This interview with the bride and the groom will be done one month before the wedding date and will be conducted by the parish priest or his assistant. The schedule of the interview will be given upon the signing of the application form. Failure to report on the interview date or failure to notify the office of any change in the schedule will mean cancellation of the application and reservation of the church for the upcoming wedding.
4. Pre-Marriage Seminar: Both the bride and the groom have to attend this. The schedule for the seminar will be given during the canonical interview or you may inquire at the parish office. Some churches may allow attendance in other pre-wedding seminars such as the Catholic Engaged Encounter (CEE) or Discovery Weekend (DW) as a suitable substitute (if you have already attended either one of these, inquire at the parish office if they recognize either CEE or DW in lieu of their Pre-Marriage Seminar.)
5. Permission from bride's parish: a permit from the parish of the bride-to-be must be secured and presented to the parish office of the couple's chosen ceremony venue. The form will be provided by the parish office of your chosen church.
6. Marriage Banns: These will be provided during the canonical interview and have to be immediately brought to the respective parishes of the bride and the groom for posting. These have to be returned to the office after three Sundays. (Note: the respective parishes may ask some requirements for the posting of the banns [i.e. a ID picture from the bride and the groom])
7. List of names and addresses of principal sponsors (Ninongs & Ninangs): This has to be submitted to the parish office one week before the wedding date. Church policy requires at least a pair of sponsors and, ideally, a maximum of six sponsors.
Additional Requirements for Specific Cases
for widows or widowers: A copy of the death certificate of the former spouse must be presented to the parish office.

Hi there.
I'm Filipino based in London and planning to marry my Indian partner for 5 years next year in Philippines. I have met his family early this year and unfortunately it was not very pleasant experience. I am in Philippines now for a quick holiday which gives me a chance to quickly check on the requirements for marriage and start a bit of the preparation. I found out that few of requirements to obtain the legal capacity before marriage will be very difficult or even close to impossible to gather without my partner going to India from Dubai as his parents are based in India and the bachelorhood can only be processed by himself. Two of the mission impossible are: 1. gain parental consent 2. ID of his parents. He is already 31 and I'm 34. My family is very supportive as they already know him since 2004 when he was here in Philippines. I was advised to seek help from solicitor.
Is there anyone who can share any thoughts?
Thanks.

Then don't get officially married in Philippines. Do your religious ceremony in PI. There are islands in the sun that will marry you'll without much hassle. It is called the path of least resistance.

Holy Applescript

hi there Sandylane, you can marry in india by Special Marriage Act if you want to avoid the religious ceremononies. it's like a civil wedding in the phils where you will go to the registrar's office and apply for marriage registrations. your indian fiance would have to do the leg work on that. you don't need his parents' permission to marry; you just need to present yourself in the office with 2 witnesses.
we have a thread here in indiamike about the procedure in having simple wedding registration.
i dont know if you can be allowed to get married in the philippines without having the lEGAL CAPACITY to contract marriage since it is a required document for all foreigners intending to marry flipino nationals. it's in our LAW.
Certificate of legal capacity
Hello firends,
Pleaseee help me.. I need to get married with a filipino. She is staying in phillipine. I am an Indian staying in USA. I got to know the requirements from indian embassy in phillipines. It is quite hard as it requires certificate of legal capacity to contract marriage to be able to marry a phillipine national. And that certificate needs lot of reuirements like
1. affidavit of parents consent
2. Bachelorhood certificate. and so on....
Its difficult for me to get these two for sure. Also since I am not in India, I don't know whom to talk to ( like a lawyer).
Is there any other way of going through marriage( like in any other country which is not difficult to get married and also no need of visa).I heard Hong kong is pretty lenient. Can we both go there and get married? Or can she come to India and I go to India and get marreid there?
Just let me know guys. Please help me...
