No, you do not. You just need to check out a handful of the threads in this section. It is what it is for!

It isn't a minefield; it is fairly straightforward!

UK immigration would probably be the worst bit, if that is where you are planning to live.

In that case, and even more so if your fiance is already in UK, you need the UK Border Agency website.

As far as I know, no, you can't.

An X visa allows great freedom to come and go, to and from, India, but it is not very generous in what it allows one to do here.

It was good enough for me until I qualified for PIO ...because I didn't really want to do anything!

Sorry, no experience of student visas at all.

My guess is that you probably have to apply in the country you came from, but honestly... no idea.

Also remember that the issue of any visa cancels all other visas, so getting a student/employment/other visa cancels your X visa, even if it is for a much shorter duration.

"Who is eligible for PIO Card?
Any person who at any time has held an Indian passport; or
He/she or either of his/her parents or grandparents or great grandparents were born in and permanently resided in India as defined by the Government of India Act, 1935
Any person who is a spouse of a citizen of India or a person of Indian origin as mentioned above."

I have read about this information about PIO card. I am trying to find out positive way for me. Can you advise me about my situation? I came to India on 07/Oct/2011. I got marriage on 28/Nov. Can I apply for PIO after changing to Entry X visa? I held a business visa will expire on 05/Oct/2012. Thanks and best regards

Normatively yes, one year is required to establish that it is a genuine marriage, and not one of convenience.

Is this a conversion from Tourist to X, or is it any extension ?

Hi,
its an conversion from student to X-visa. my spouse has completed her studies and before her student visa expires we applied for the conversion from student to X-visa from bangalore. within a week an inspection was carried out in my residence for all the proofs which i submitted at the time of submitting the X-Visa process. after that still i havent received any communication. if i try to reach the bangalore FRRO they say that contact delhi and provided some phone numbers which is of no use bcoz no one bothers to answers the calls.
