There is ONLY one place there to do whatever you want [stay, eat, relax] Its called Flamingo resort or something. Its packed all the monsoon weekends. You can eat at its restaurant without staying in its rooms. The other places are very small chai shops... some two or three ahead on the road.
Its a vast undulating meadow with the monsoon winds and rain in full fury due to its location. You can go to Harishchandragad via Khireshwar.... but thats a proper full day trek, esp difficult in the monsoon.... There is the lake and dam before the Khireshwar village.... you have to drive over the dam to reach the village.

Borivali to Thane [you decide the time] Thane to Kalyan phaataa [30 mins] Kalyan phaataa to Murbad [60 mins] Murbad to Malshej [40 mins] With good driving and clear roads you can go faster.... but its doubtful in the monsson. If you want any info, contact me by PM on Indiamike, i'll give you my email id and tele no. . . |

In case the PM (Private Messaging) system isn't clear, it's explained in the site's FAQ.

I am sure you can tell us about your experience of Malshej Ghat. I always found this GHAT most happening place in this range. Although these days things are changing there as eve-teasing and boozing has become common and some people after drinking creates very cheap scene for others.
Accidents in waterfalls are also common. Waiting for your post- as sahyadri requires more and more exposure to outer world. [ - i feel so ] |

Now- there is tea shop near temple but temple condition is becoming worse although tag of ASI is there. I remember when I first visited this places...and now I did circuit from PACHNAI and descended tp GHATGHAR. I know Maharashtrian people are very sensitive to their culture and are closely assosiated with GADS but generation-x is having good fun up here. |
