Travelling to Shirdi from Delhi on a short trip – Please help
Hello folks, thanks for a very informative site and the useful contributions members have been putting in. Before I posted this question I read thru other threads and gained quite a bit information. I am travelling from the US to India for 20 days only. Among other places I will be going, I plan to travel to Shirdi for Baba’s darshan (my first time). Saving time is a priority and I have a reasonable budget (4 people are travelling). This is what I am thinking:
Day 1: Delhi to Manmad via Goa Express Day 2: Arrive Manmad 10:30 & Shirdi around 1pm. Darshan & then go to Shani Temple Day 3 morning: Fly from Aurangabad or Pune to Delhi Some of my questions are: Does this itinerary sound reasonable? Can I shorten it? Is it best to fly from Pune or Aurangabad? How long does a car take from Shirdi to Pune (I’ve heard anywhere from 3 to 6 hrs). Is Shani Temple on way to Pune, i.e. if I go to Shani temple do I need to come back to Shirdi? Finally, Is it possible to return to Delhi via train or flight on day 2 itself? Thank you. |

Sounds fine by me given your constraints. Shirdi to Pune might be less than 3 hours depending on the road/traffic. I have driven Nagar/Pune mant times at 3 hours or less. You never know what you encounter. I always needed a rest after driving. But, you may be able to avoid so by working the online rail schedules to swing a connection out of say Manmad to Delhi..

Shirdi: Manmad railway station is (60 km) away. Nearest airports are Mumbai (260 km), Pune (185 km), and Aurangabad (125 km). I looked in the map and your temple in Shanisinghnapur is 70 km south-east of Shirdi. From Shani, Aurangabad is 125km away and Pune is 155km.
Is Shani Temple on way to Pune, i.e. if I go to Shani temple do I need to come back to Shirdi? No need to go back to Shirdi. Finally, Is it possible to return to Delhi via train or flight on day 2 itself? Highly impossible. Getting in and out of Shirdi takes time. Your Shani could happen on day 3 and I see a day 4 for return to Delhi. Road travel in India is very testing. Thanks to both of you. One more question, if I reach Manmad around 10 am, it is possible to do darshan and Shani temple and return same day in the evening, may be around 7-8 pm. Someone suggested I do train both ways.

Try this:
*** Delhi to Kopargaon via Goa Express (Dep: 1500 Hrs) (Manmad is 60 Km from Shirdi / Kopargaon is 17 km from Shirdi) *** Reach Kopargaon by 11 Am. Reach Shirdi by 11.30 Am. After Freshening up, go for Baba's Darshan. Post Lunch go to Singnapur for Shani Dev Temple. Come back to hotel or Sai Baba Sansthan by 7 to 8 PM. Next Morning early, go for Baba's Darshan and also visit Khandoba Temple which is just 100 m from the temple. You can either catch Goa Express departing 09:15 am from Kopargaon if you wish to come back by train (Travel time: 21 Hrs) Or Catch a flight like you mentioned. Enjoy your Travel. Om Sai Ram.

well you have made a nice plan.
From Manmad OR kopargaon - Go to shirdi, get a peace of mind, FROM SHIRDI, there are private vehicles, which will take u to SHANI- SHINGNAPUR. From SHANI SHINGNAPUR. -- I will siggest you to go aurangabad and then delhi ((2 hrs from SHANI) i dunno about the frequency of planes from a'bad) because it take (MIN. 4 hrs (safe drive) for pune. ) and the travel is so simple. all u have to do is.. to reach shirdi. well .. BABA KI JAI HO.. SHANI DEO KI JAI HO. |
