Transport around ratnagiri

We will be staying in the centre of Ratnagiri for a day and a night and would love to see the sunset from the old fort. How easy is it to get a taxi back into town from the fort after dark? Or should we rather get a taxi to wait for us? What would be a fair price for an autoriksha for about three hours (the drive up to the fort, an hour to look around and then back into town?

It would be better to take a rickshaw / cab, make it wait and come back. No idea about the price though.

When you get down at Ratnagiri station there is a board mentioning the auto rates for different places. You can check there. From Ratnagiri to Ganpatipule the charges were around Rs 250/- quite some time back. It definitely would have increased now.
