Second day, we planned to visit Ajanta/ellora caves and back to shirdi to pickup train to mantralayam.

Please advice me, whether one day is possible to visit Ajanta/ellora caves from shidi?
ie. Shirdi - Ajanta/ellora caves - Shirdi - one day is possible (Morning 5 AM to 7PM?
Also please let me know whats the travel time to reach Ajanta caves from Shirdi?
Whats the distance?

I dont remember the exact distance from Shirdi, but it would take around 5 hours to reach. I think it will be hectic in one day.

Anup is not wrong but you can not visit these places in ONE DAY. Ajanta and Ellora requires one day each and do not miss DAULTABAD fort...it is very close to Aurangabad.

Shirdi also needs time - i think you should check with your plans once again..just running and touching will not give you joy rather spare some more time...for visiting these places !

I would say if you rush Shirdi the whole value of the place is lost since it is the atmosphere rather than any site to see. Darmabum is going to laugh at a materialist saying that I would suggest putting more time into Shirdi and skip some of the "required " sites. However, for my own historical preferences I would go fort, art and temple..

Have you enlisted Grishneswar? If yes, then from there you can go to Ajanta. The distance, I think, is around 75 km or so. Again Ellora caves you can consider. Just within 2 km from the Shrine.

BTW, Nasik is more than 200 km from Ajanta.

As per my knowledge there are only 3 jyotirlingas in Maharastra - Bhimashankar (110 km from Pune), Grishneshwar (Near Ellora-Aurangabad), Trimbakeshwar (Near Nashik). If time permits you can visit 2 jyotirlingas in MP - Mahakaleshwar (Ujjain) and Omkareshwar ( Near Indore-Khandwa).

Day 01: Pune to Bhimashankar by bus (Pune-shivaji nagar) early morning . Check msrtc eticketing website. Visit Bhimashankar temple and travel to Nasik. (Note: From Bhimashankar travel to Manchar and then catch buc to Nasik. No need to come back to Pune. Check google map). Halt at Nashik.

Day 02: Visit Trimbak and Nashik. Board Nandigram Express (1401) at 20:00 . Reach Aurangabad at 23:40. Halt.

Day 03: Aurangabad sight seeing and Grishneshwar temple. ITDC Package are available for Aurangabad, Ellora and grishneswar Trip (one day).

Day 04: Visit ITDC Ajantha cave trip from Aurangabad , but dont travel back to Aurangabad but travel to Jalgaon (See google map, Ajantha to Jalgaon -60-70 km) and then proceed to khandwa by train and halt at khandwa.

Day 05: Proceed to Omkareshwar temple from Khandwa (60km). There are trains available. After visiting Omkareshwar, proceed to Ujjain. Halt at Ujjain.

Day 06: Visit Mahakaleshwar temple. Board Pune indore express 9312 at ujjain at 3:45 pm.

Day 07: Reach Pune at 8:00 a.m.
