I honestly couldn't believe we won, thought the Black team played superior rugby.
And that's rugby for you! Doesn't really matter how well you play in between - this is a knockout tournament that goes on for a month and a half. On game day - all bets are off.

As you can imagine - the reaction in NZ is pretty philosophical. People are pretty happy with the way the ABs played, but acknowledge that french skill, flair and passsion won the day.

I'll tell you one thing - next time you come through Delhi its your shout!

I posted a long reply to you in the "So we were robbed..." thread, just before Aishah rightly felt that it was hardly the place to do so.

Next time in Delhi I'll make sure I'll bring my sports shoes, as I'm comfident you'll have located the right place to practice by then. And I won't forget a bottle, since I now know your beverage of choice.

Make that 2 bottles if we win the finals...

don't worry - Aishah wasn't objecting to the topic - just commenting on how it was another sports thread and it always seems to go that way

Aha ! Me neither - can you believe I'm actually allergic to the stuff ? Likewise for coffee and champagne, sends me straight to the nearest hospital.
In that case, I just brought back from Poland a bottle of vodka you might like better. No stupid hibiscus flavour or anything, single grain, etc.
Will likely be the heaviest single object in my suitcase. Better start that trip with Delhi then...

Excellent! More than happy to help you lighten it!

Might go and watch the SA - Fiji game soon. SA for sure to go through (their forward pack is monstrous). Picking Argentina for tonite - too much flair

Still my heart is with Fidji and Scotland. Fidji because I always have a soft spot for the outsiders, and what these guys have done so far in the competition deserves a bit of support. An honest answer should also point out that I find them to be the most handsome guys in the tournament - a close call with NZ. Nothing to do with sports I admit, but part of the fun for me !
And Scotland, because that's where I learned to play. But Argentina plays too well...
Go outsiders !

I am shocked. Absolutely shocked. NZ gone, who I tipped to win, and the Aussies outplayed by England (I can start hearing the English sledges). The AB's-France game was just amazing. The haka at the beginning made the hair all over my body stand up. How close did the teams get to each other during the haka! To non rugby fans or people who aren't fimiliar with the All Blacks haka, they usually stand around 15 metres away. Here is the video if you missed it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmkrDB-cWdA

So, now I'm either going for France or Argentina to win the World Cup, because they've never won one before, so GO PUMAS! GO LES BLEUS!

You can watch any game you want from anywhere in the world, if you have a good internet connection and know what to do with it.

yeah - you should see the state of mourning in NZ I thought it was a great game. As a kiwi - I'm disappointed. As a rugby fan - what a game! Good for the tournament too because it ensures there will be a Nth Hemisphere team in the final. And re the Aussie departure - what happened there? After the first 10 minutes watching the English pile into the Aussies I thought something could be on here. If the english forwards run out of steam the aussie backs will start to cut through them, but if they don't.....and so it turned out to be. I would love to see France play Argentina in the final - it would be like watching two herds of cats chase after each other!

I love watching the all-blacks play and would say that the French Victory was a flash in the pan ( My Apologies, Khandoma). It would be very interesting to see the next Match between these two teams

Sprigboks will beat the Pumas and the French to defeat' Old Blighty'. Springboks to win it all.

Watching the all blacks Perform the Haka is one of the most Unique experiences in Any sport.

I going to say France to win it all. If a team can beat an All Blacks side with McCaw and Carter, and a Carter who only remained a short while longer in the second half, I say they can go all the way. They were the second best team in the world before this world cup, and now they can go all the way. Home crowd definately a big factor. After France got beaten by Argentina in the first round, I have a feeling they've built a forcefield around them, and are adopting an All Blacks style of rugby, with counter attacking when needed.

I honestly don't know what to think anymore. I have been deprived of rugby (and of IM for that matter) since last week. I want to believe in France's chances, still I'm amazed that NSWelshman thinks so highly of the team. Indeed, they were good before the competition started. But they proved poorly under pressure during the Argentina game - did you guys get the story of what happened in our locker room right before that game started ? I'm not sure playing at home will help at all, some say we won against the AB because it was in Cardiff. Next saturday it's 100,000 people dripping in blue paint, not sure how that changes things.

Call it "passion" or "a flash in the pan", we have one whimsical team, and I find it hard to speculate on its chances. Not to say that I don't wish it to win !

My morale may be a little down also because of one news item I just got. If anybody has an idea on how to watch a rugby world cup final whilst giving a conference on non-linear screenwriting in contemporary movies, I'm taking...

The big reason why the All Blacks got kicked out was the lack of play against quality team. The best team in their pool was Scotland and the AB's murdered them 40-0. If the All Blacks played a tight game or a losing game against someone, I reckon they would of beaten France. But oh well, rugby, the game of inches.

And they also have a history of wilting under Pressure, Not getting things done when it counts the most.

And it's usually that they never get good side in the pool games. France will win because they had Argentina and Ireland, so their minds will be alert.
