Reliable Car Rental for Konkan tour

Can you guys suggest any good options for a single male traveller looking to visit Konkan's beaches? Looking to rent a car but renting from Mumbai would be very expensive therefore the cost effective option would be to reach the nearest konkan town/village and then take a car from there. But would they be reliable? Safe? The itineary isn't yet fixed but may cover at least 4-5 beaches around ganpatipule (excluding ganpatipule, harihareshwar and shrivardhan since he has already seen these).

What do you guys suggest? I would welcome your advise and suggestions for the rental options as well names of beaches.

I do not think there would be anything unreliable about any car rental except the driver you are stuck with.

For as remote as some town in Konkan where you might want to go by bus or train and then get a car for a single traveller - well this will not be economical in many ways (depends what is econonical for you as this can get too relative)

The best bet might be have a pln from where you want to hire a car and then search for or ask for cab rentals in that region.

Just off topic but then this journey looks like an exploring journey which a biker would love to do- why not think of riding this journey . but then that has some amount of adventure to it.

Thanks new_traveller. The bike option isn't feasible for various reasons. For car, yes, what you suggested seems good. The idea now is to get to dapoli or nearby that and then take a car from there. I found a site listing car rentals at Dapoli. Seems to be good. New question now, what's the best possible way to get to Devgad (devgarh) from Dapoli?

Very good question.

By bus or train.

You might have to change around 2-3 buses to get to Guhagar (Devgad - Kankavli - Chiplun - Guhagar). From Guhagar take a bus or share auto / jeep to Veldoor. From Veldoor take a boat to Dabhol. From Dabhol another bus / auto / jeep to Dapoli.

Take a bus from Devgad to Kankavli. From Kankavli train to Chiplun. From Chiplun bus to Guhagar and then the above route.
