Pune's nightlife?

I keep reading that Pune is a party town. This is a complete mystery to me and my travelling partner as we didn't find a single thing that suggests this. Any suggestions?

Its been a few years so I may be a bit dated here, but you could try the following:

1)The disco in the Hotel "Sagar Plaza". Its in the "camp" area off moledina road near "main street". But the deal as with nightspots anywhere in the world is that they go "in" and "out" rather fast.
2)There are a few good pubs like "10 downing street".

Pune has a huge college age population and the night-scene is more targetted towards them, if it was me I would walk up to the kids hanging around outside "Marz-O-Rin" or the ice-cream place next door and go: "Where's the paaarty yaar?"

Largely the party scene is also a bit incestous, if you got to know some people in Pune it would help.

btw, I see some people here asking about Yoga schools. I would recommend people consider the BK Iyengar institute in Pune, is supposed to be quite good. Its in a very nice part of town ("model colony") and I always see a lot of "firangs" anound there.

The Leather Lounge, it's hip, slick and verrrry modern although not that big. Was there with some friends in Jan and it was rocking on a Wednesday night!

anyone interested in hanging out this weekend?

I'm here in Pune for one last weekend before heading to Bombay. 28 yo grad student from ny (non-resident indian) looking to meet up with a bunch of people (i'll even just take one) and hang out and chill out at some reasonable local bar - even a divey one. email me!

There are parties in the Ashram (Osho) but you have to be a member to get to the ones inside. There are also private parties outside the ashram but you have to know who's who to find out. If you go to German Bakery and hang out for a while you will come to know.

true, there must be some parties around the osho "ashram" as there seemed to be few people attending the actual meditations compared to the allround number of foreigners i saw in the vicinity (around the german bakery).
