Pune and around
Hi, i'll be staying in Pune for a few weeks in July/August at a charity but with weekends off! I guess i'm wondering what would be within reach of Pune for visits over the weekend? Thanks!

I hope you know to expect some rain in July and August. It makes the surrounding hills very lush, and many say it is the best time to see them, waterfalls and all. Just as long as you don't mind getting drenched!

Waterfalls Bhimashankar
Its the best time to explore the myriad waterfalls in the surrounding hills of the Sahyadri [W. Ghats] ranges. Pune is an excellent base to explore these areas.
Bhimashankar is a wonderfully different destination about 4hrs drive from Pune with dense forests, zillions of waterfalls, mist and an ancient Jyotirlinga temple. There is only one hotel there, I think its called Blue Mormon. From Pune the shorter approach is via Chakan, Khed [Rajgurunagar] then left to BS, or the longer but supposedly better road route i.e. further up from Khed to Manchar then left to BS. |

There are many place to ventire around, if you don't mind rains, in and around pune. Try visiting some forts located on the outskirts of the city. Matheran, mahabi are few hill stations and they become really scenic after rains. apart from nature trippin you can also enjoy a lot of night life here
with you all the best |
