Nasik-Ellora: cost of car rental per day?

Hi!

Is it possible to make the trip from Nasik to Ellora and back in one day? Trying to sqeeze in as much as possible...

The distance is approx 140 KM - so that would make some 4 hour drive? It seems doable, to me (first timer

)

I think hiring a car with driver would be the best option here? What would be the cost of such trip?

I have to ask why ?? people usually go to Ellora To see the caves and even if the drive is possible ,you would need more then a few hours to view them .Although just a drive can be very interesting

Hello everyone!

Can anyone help me in deciding whether an offer i got from a car rental company is more or less OK or heavily overpriced. We will be in Nasik and would like to go to Ellora caves. I suppose the best and quickest way to do that is by hiring a car with a driver. I got a proposal from a company Classic Services for 3800 INR (inclues Tata with AC, gas, driver for one day).

Or, is it wiser to make the arrangements on location? Possibility to bargain, lot of offerers etc.

Tata what?

As a manufacturer their range varies from the very small Indica city runabout to the chunky Sumo SUV.

But, whatever, this seems like a lot of money for a car for the day.

The car is made by Tata Motors

But i do not know the model etc.

Oh.. sry.. it is Tata Indica.
But in any case, as you said, the cost seems to be too high?
So, we would be better to rent it while in Nasik?

If they are not telling you what model then dump that company. They could be setting you up for a little Indica, "But Madam, This is Tata; that is what you ordered".

One day drive out of Chennai would not cost that much, but a local would have to comment on this particular trip --- I'm a few thousand miles away!

Travels companies are easy to come by; you do not have to book them in advance.

Yes, I think so, and I'd take something a little larger than an Indica. How many of you?

I could get a Toyota Qualis, do the round trip from here to Pondycherry in a day (about 350 Km total) for half that price.

It depends how far Ellora caves are from Nasik..as days drive can also cost Rs.4000, depending on the distance covered.

Good for the distance for Ellora from Nasik and then let us know..you will get better answers and rates then...

I would suggest taking a train to Aurangabad and hiring a cab in Aurangabad to visit Ellora & Ajanta.
