Mumbai to Shirdi via Ghoti, Sinnar

Hi all,

I keep seeing many posts on Mumbai Shirdi route. This is just to inform you all that the preferred route these days seems to be through the road that goes from Ghoti to Sinnar and on to Shirdi straight. So no need to go via Nasik or Sangamner.

Surprisingly, neither the TTK maps nor the Times (52 weekend Breaks) guide seem to mention this route. This route cuts down your total journey time to about 4 hours.

Route is :

Mumbai-Thane-Bhiwandi-Shahpur-Knsara Ghat-Igatpuri (Bypass)- Ghoti (turn right here onto the Bhandardara/Shendi Road) - keep left for Sinnar . Then on to Shirdi.

Hope this helps people planning on Shirdi trips from Mumbai.

You are right that this route is a preferred route. However, driving thru Gothi town specially on saturday's when they have a bazar is a nightmare

beautiful enroute

But the route is really beautiful with windmills greeting you(surprisingly). Plus roads are good too, plus very less traffic , will advise to take this route to everyone, really scenic.

Thanks for the info .... this route is clearly shown in Eicher Road Atlas & Road Atlas Maharashtra(Samarth Udyog Publication) .. later is much more comprehensive ... probably the most detailed Maharshtra road atlas I ever came across.

Take the Ghoti / Sinnar Route - I have often done Mumbai- Shirdi-Mumbai in a day flat on this route . Beautiful scenery , very little traffic. I also passed through Malshej Ghat which is breattaking during monsoons - in fact I am thinking of staying at Malshej next time and doing a trip to Shirdi and coming back to stay there ( its just 2.5 hours from Shirdi).

Some bits of the highway were under construction when I last went - caused a few jams but nothing too serious

Hi, Just 1 month back I did Mumbai - Trimbak - Bhandardara - Malshej trip in a Day...

My schedule was very tight and started our journey early in the morning.

As replied by Rahul, goto Shirdi via Malshej....

You can take below route.

Mumbai - Kalyan - Murbad - Malshej - Alephata - Shirdi - Ankola - Bhandardara (Bypass only) - Goti - Trimbak - Goti - Igatpuri - Mumbai

You can take 3-4 hours halt at Malshej (Mumbai - Malshej is 4-5 hours non-stop 150 KMs drive and road condition is very good.)

From Malshej - Shirdi is a 3 hours 120 KMs drive. (You will reach Shirdi by evening).

take night halt @ shirdi and early morning go for Darshan and immidiately leave for Trimbakeshwar.

Shirdi to Bhandardara is 4 hours drive (150 KMs)

Bhandaradara - Goti - Trimbak is 2.5 hours drive (100 KMs) . (I have used Goti - Vaitarna - Trimbak route which reduce 35 KMs and road was very good.) other route is Goti - Nasik - Trimbak which is 4 lane NH.

Trimbak - Goti - Mumbai (5 hours non-stop drive)

Regards
Rushi
